If you have a rounter that supports DHCP, set the evox.ini to setup the newtwork and also not use a static IP, you can do it by hand or use the on screen settings, if you use the on screen be sure after you make all the changes to go all the way to the bottom and save it. Then rebot your xbox.

Yup. That's the way I've tried it and set it up but still no joy. What I don't get is why I am able to ftp with a different evox version.

Assuming my router is DHCP and set at 192.168.1.1
PC is 192.168.1.12

My guess is the XBOX should be set to DHCP
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: leave blank? or 0.0.0.0 or doesn't matter?

try turning your static ip off....then connect...it worked for me

Im having trouble with The Flash I get the "error reading bios" Is it cuz it cant find the bin file or what. I have 4034 w/enigmah-x I have checked both the 2 jump point for the write enable over and over. is it a file problem or a write enable problem. (it comes up in blue box with manufacturer id device and am29f80 something like that but no hit Y to write)
I am talking about the slayer install disk

I am having a similar issue - my Xbox was chipped and 80gb Seagate installed in HK so I am not sure what they set-up but I cannot FTP to it...I have tried all the readings and suggestions. Any ideas?? Could they have "locked" me out of my Xbox? Here are some of the things I tried:

Used FlashFXP and FTP Explorer - neither work
Used Linksys Router, Hub, and crossover cable - all failed to connect
Changed the IP in Evox - still no connect
Static IP - Yes and No
Made Evox CD-RW boot disk (instead of from HD) - nothing

Evox says my IP is set at 192.168.0.3 but network detect in Evox (blue at the top) show IP at 0.0.0.0 - what am I missing???
I want to connect, transfer, upgrade to Evox 1.8.3285, etc....

Any help??

This might sound silly mate, but before you connect did you remember to turn off the anon setting and enter the user & pass as : xbox (or whatever you specify in your evox.ini)
earlier versions of EvoX worked with anonymous ticked, but the latest defo needs to be unticked and the username is the same as the pass.

Note that the IP addresses are different but the gateways are the same.

now lets say you set static addresses in both units like this

Computer---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Xbox
IP Address: 192.168.0.94-----------------------------------------------------------------192.168.0.50
Subnet: 255.255.255.0--------------------------------------------------------------255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.94------------------------------------------------------------------192.168.0.94

again the IP are differant but the gatways are the same why? because the computer is the host and is controling the traffic to an from so the computer is the control path (gateway).
This does not apply when using a router. routers control traffic and address things differant with many other settings possibly needing to be set.

Using the proper settings and the proper cable in this case a crossover cable, there is no reason in the world that you cannot FTP to your Xbox.

Remember the first three groups of numbers in your IP addresses must match IE 192.168.0 this is the group, the last group of digits is the individual machines ID.

If using the settings above you can't connect to the Xbox with a FTP Cliant do this.

if you get time outs then there is either a network card failure, WRONG cable being used, Wrong address somewhere go look it over again.
computer to Xbox = CAT5 ethernet crossover cable
computer to router = cat 5 ethernet straight through cable
Xbox to router = cat 5 ethernet straight through cable
make sure you are using the right cable for what you want to be doing.

i am also having a problem connecting to my xbox via ftp. i have made a boot disc which works perfectly, i have the static ip option set to no. is this correct? i am connecting the xbox to my pc via a hub that has no other computers conneted to it. do i need to make another evox boot disc with the static ip set to yes?? i think this may be my problem.

You can change from static yes to no in the set up menu. No new boot disc needed. Remember to scrool all the way down and save changes.

The problem with changing it to 'yes' and then saving the changes is when you re-boot it will start-over and read the CD...which loses your changes (same if you need to change the IP address or Gateway) - it is better to change the file on your PC and then re-burn.

I took the settings from my Xbox (192.168.0.3)and then changed my PC IP to match (192.168.0.1). I checked it with IPCONFIG (showed that the PC was 192.168.0.1), then plugged in the Xbox and checked this by pinging 192.168.0.3 to verify data is working. Then run FlashFXP (also used AceFTP) and do the 'quick connect' to your Xbox.
