did you tried to boot with your evox "start up" cd ?

yeah, I tried booting from my evox cd, that worked before, but I still get the same error code "13 Dashboard could not be launched" this is really frustrating! Before this happened I managed to back up my C and E  and also used the back up function from the evox menu. so I also have the five files in the back up folder....just in case I may need to get a new HD. I have the orginal C&E on my PC and the /backup folder w/the five files ( bios.bin, disk.bin, eeprom.bin, hddinfo.txt, hddkey.bin) so Is there anything else I can do? thanks for your reply xboxamped13.

I have also a matrix inside, and had some problems with flashing it.
I had to reflash the thing for lets say 6 times or so. So, maybe you
can try to flash it again (I'm using 256k.Evx2.5.colormod.err.ybox.bin)

Do you have the red logo now? Or went it back to the green one?

Another thing you can try is to reburn your evox cd (full erase of your
CDRW is required they say).

Hey xboxamped13, my bios is "256k.Evx2.5.colormod.err.evox.bin" and I do get the red logo so the bios must be working right? any ways I tried burning the evolutionX again on a brand new dvd-rw and i get the red logo but same error code "13!!!" I even put a  600mb dummy file on the cd. I know its because I renamed the og xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe and didnt leave a copy of xboxdash.xbe on the xboxhd. any other ideas? does evox suppose to boot up, even if the xboxdash.xbe is not in the C on the xboxhd?

sorry to here it, but i thought i had totalled my xbox, but your xbox should still be able to boot games and such like.   does it boot original games?

oh and as a last ressort plug your hard drive into your pc get the drivers and such like read the tutorials  wink.gif

Sam, how many times have u tried to get the EvoX CDRW to work? They aren't the best at working right off the bat, so keep on trying. The *dash.xbe files can be messed up, but the CDRW should always work.

put the CD in, turn ur xbox on, then eject the cd and put it back in quickly so that the xbox "resets" it should be reading the disk before the dashboard if u do it right. and it will load the dashboard off the CD.

Thanks fellas! finally it worked! it was my media all along, I was using memorex DVD-RW's which worked before but just stopped working, so I got some Verbatim 650mb CD-RW's, burned evox, popped it in, and it booted! woohoo! my bro aint gonna kick my ass anymore hes giving me 50 bucks for hooking his bitch ass up. whew.

sad.gif I'm having the same problem. However, I can play games and stuff. Xbox just won't boot without CD. Code 13.  I'm using the matrix mod. Actually no problems flashing or installing. Can someone help?

Error code 13 indicates the dashboard failed to boot without specifying why.

Which dash do you have installed?  Sounds like you need to re-install it.
