don't amke an iso with the files just burn

burn them in data mode and then give it a shot. Also if you burn to CD-RW sometimes it takes a few restarts to get it to read the disk

So do I have to convert it to an ISO or not?

To clarify I am certain that the xbox is using the evox bios.  My logo is red on bootup.  When it begins to run the HDD loader or a game it turns green for a little bit and then load whatever is in the dvd drive.  The evox dashboard boot cd also turns green but stays there while the dvd drive seem to keep on chugging away like its really loading something.  

Also do I need a dummy file for the bootdisk?

I have tried using the Lite-on DVD trick to no avail.  So it is not a media problem...I think.

Ahh ok.. You referring to the green "loading" image that is displayed.

This sounds like a media issue. Its having problems with reading the CDR/CDRW, and therefor just "hangs".

Try using a CDRW after performing a full erase.. it may take a couple of times of putting in the disk and starting the xbox to get it to finally read it.

Also, it could be a problem with xISO creating a file to burn.

If you have a DVD burner, follow the PrimoDVD tutorial on the main pages. It describes a method for burning DVD's that doesn't require you to make an image first.

You could also try buring a larger file on the CD as well, as you mentioned, as some people have reported this working for them.

Hi all-

I'm having a similar problem to isaaktnt. i haven't posted yet, b/c i've taken it all in and succeeded in flashing the xodus w/ EvoX 2.5 (confirmed by red logo) and playing a backed up game on a Memorex cd-rw burned at 4x (my burner won't burn any slower?!?!?).

But, i cannot get ExoX 1.8.2812 to load (similar green loading screen that never ends) on the same type of memorex cd-rw. i have tried Nero and RecordNowMax with all types of different settings - including dummied, free files, as an iso from the ExoX files made by Xiso. No luck w/ any on multiple tries.

My fallback will be to try new media i guess, but i am confused since the memorex cd-rw is obviously readable, if the backup game works perfectly. Any specific suggestions on burning software, file types, dummy types, etc.?

It's frustrating b/c the Memorex obviously CAN be read by my xbox DVD, but just not w/ the EvoX 1.8.2812 files (default.xbe and evox.ini) on it!

Any help is greatly appreciated! (Sorry for the long post!)

PS-Is there any other way to get the IP address of the xbox?

I had the exact same problem and got around it by burning the EvoX files onto a DVD-R.  That boots up every time.  Try that approach if you have access to a DVD burner.

I've used memorex CDRW as well, and here's some ideas for ya.

Don't use Nero. I've never gotten it to work properly. Use CDRWIN for your CDRW.

If you got a working game on the CDRW, then do a quick erase and then burn the evox dashboard onto it. Might work

Try using gdfmaker if you have it, then burn with Recordnow. Sometimes xISO has issues.

Don't give up if you put the disk in and it doesn't load the first time! It can take 3,4,5,15 tries to get it to load

Make sure default.xbe is in the root directory, as well as evox.ini. Might sound dumb, but ya never know!


All else fails, try another media, or use DVD +- R/RW.

thanks lipowitz. i actually got it running eventually w/ a dummied iso of 350 mb of 2812 on Record Now Max. works great now that it's on the HD. i do have a new post about the e:/ partition tho if you care to help me out (again).

Woohoo!  Got it to work.  I fill the xiso image with 640 meg of whatever I had on my hdd and made an xiso of that it worked.  Same media same burning technique.  I am using a Lite 32x burner with TDK cd-rw.  Thanks all for the help.
