Dell Small Business has the Retail Western Digital 120GB 7200RPM 8MB Cache hard drive for $199. Search for "A0060210" to find it. Then add it to your cart to get an automatic 15% off. Then send for the $100 rebate which they advertise but do not have the rebate form yet.
Final price is $199 - 15% - $100 rebate = $69 w/ free shipping + tax.
They also have the OEM version (item# A0009295) for $10 cheaper w/ the same rebate. The rebate requires the retail version but it is advertised with the rebate. It is best to buy the retail version to be safe.
WOOT! this one works!!

Yes, and when you receive your $100 rebate check sometime in the year 2004, you'll be ALL SET!

I bought this one for cheap. 100GB with 8mb cache for 126.00 - not bad

The rebate thing is dubious as it is. When the link to the rebate brings up "Sorry, rebate information is not available at this time. Please contact customer service" I'd think twice before relying on it.

I got you all beat. Of course I have to wait for the rebates to come back. I went to best buy to pick up a 100gb 5400rpm drive for $120 and they were out so I got a raincheck for (3) of them just in case I decided to pick up some more. some time goes buy and still nothing from best buy. Finally in the mail is a substitution for the drives. They were offering me a 120gb 7200rpm for the same $120 price. Did I forget to mention the $120 in rebates on each drive. Let's just say I decided to pick up all 3 drives. Net price $5.xx for each. The check out guy had to call over a manager to verify he could still give the rebates. The manager said Yep! I guess its christmas.

damn! Doesnt work anymore!
-
no, for xbox purposes there is not much performance gain out of 7200rpm/8meg cache. some sites review it as like 1.5sec difference when copying a cd to the harddrive. but the fact that you load a game off a harddrive in general will be a lot faster than from dvd.
Now about this rebate. Can you actually get a rebate for this or are we just hoping here? because i dont see it.

i don't know if anybody tried this. A friend of mine at work ordered a 120GB from dell.com with the $100 rebate. He got an email today to say the shipping would be delayed. Until DECEMBER 31 2002.
