Title: Cant Connect Through Flashfxp
Post by: Tsharkou on September 25, 2002, 02:44:00 PM
OK, here you go....When you have Flashfxp open you have like 2 file windows open (left and right), In the left one you have file already listed right?  OK, on the right side click on Lightning bolt and select quick connect.  in this window check the anonymous and in the URL area type in the IP on the Xbox and connect.....let me know if this does or doesn't work for u

it just times out. the version of evox that i have is remoteX V1.8.458 and in the network settings it says "IP:169.254.**.** - auto" and this changes every time i boot up the xbox.  This evox iso that i burned onto a cd-rw is called "evox-dummy" and i looked at the iso through xiso and i could not see any evox.ini thingy. i dont know if that has anything to do with it but do i have to change any thing in my computers network settings if the ip on the xbox comes up automatically everytime?

That's a dummy IP address. It's telling you don't have a network.  Do you even have a cable plugged in?
If you don't have anything capable of running as a DHCP server (I'm guessing you're not going to make your PC do it) use a static IP.

I'd recommend go and reading about networking, you're not even close.

yes i do have a cable plugged in (duh) and i dont think that is a dummy ip address because that did not come up when i did not have the cable plugged in.

If you don't have a DHCP server you won't get the DHCP client to get a valid IP.

I used google for maybe 2 seconds and found this for you
http://www.win2000ma...?ArticleID=7464

This sentence is of particular importance to you:
"If the client is unable to obtain a lease from a DHCP server, the client uses APIPA and automatically configures itself with an IP address from the MS-reserved IP address range of 169.254.0.1 through 169.254.255.254."

As i said in my earlier post, you'e not even close. You won't even be able to ping your xbox from your PC let alone ftp to it.

It doesn't mean dummy IP addy, evox-dummy means that the ISO should have a dummy folder to fill up a bit of space cos the xbox doesn't like booting off cd's with next to nothing on.

gateway 192.168.0.1
