Yes, I followed it and it worked perfectly in the first try.   Just make sure you use CDRW or DVD-R  - and then use a good brand. I used a Plextor CDRW which hasn't given me any problems yet.

belial, what bios are you using, Superfros hacked 2.5 bios? if you are the one with the evoxdash then rename your xboxdash to evoxdash. I had a similar problem then remebered i flash my mod with superfro's bios. My box would give me an error that there was no dash or the dash was corrupted. I guess this version of the bios wants to look for evoxdash on the HDD to boot. Hope this sheds some light for you.

I'm using Nero and can't get the file to burn write, so how am I supposed to do this?  and where do I get the default.xbe from?

@ Tsharkou:

1.  The default.xbe file comes in the Evolution X iso file which is available from various IRC channels.  Go to #xbins on EFNet and find it there.   But when you download the rar file it already contains the iso with the default.xbe file inside it.  So you need not worry, only open Nero and select -Burn Image'.

2.  I had problems too with this, but when you burn the iso then you must select disc-at-once instead of track-at-once in the burning options in Nero.  This should rectify the problems.

Let us know how it goes.

1st I should have stated that I have an OpenBioXX and I flashed the Evo-X 2.5.  So, are you saying take that same *.bin file and make an image or do I use the evoxdash.iso I have?  Well I have been trying to burn the evoxdash.iso all evening to no avail....

OK, get a program like xboxisotool or xISO to open that iso file and take a look what´s inside.  If the iso contains a default.xbe, evox.ini(or menu.ini if it is an older vers.) and a folder called BIOS then everything is alright.  What kind of media are you using?  CDR's don't work I'm afraid.  Use CDRW and make sure it is a good brand (I used a Plextor CDRW).

'Burn Image' - 'Disc-at-Once' - burn at slowest speed possible.

Id it works, then you should be able to use the boxplorer trick.  in my book it is 100.000% percent recommended over the other methods.  It took me 10 minutes to clear problems I'd been having all week long trying to connect it to my PC.  If you are using the 2594 beta of EvoX then it will be set up to connect thru a hub and using DHCP.  Which is not good if you wanna connect thru a crossover straight to your netcard.  If you didn't set the 'Static IP' flag in the .ini file to Yes, then it won´t find your PC.  Cos it cannot be saved when you are booting from the DVD drive.  Read-only media and so on...

So I have to recommend every one that they follow this tutorial exactly and try it out.  It really is a faster way to boot evox from the HD and begin FTP'ing smile.gif
