Title: Menu.ini
Post by: majik655 on July 31, 2002, 08:49:00 PM
Well this is what you should do.

You need to put the ORIGINAL menu.ini file that came with the release ON the EVOLUTION-X DISK. (currently NOT on there.)

So you have to get the xiso reader.  OPEN the evolution.iso file.
Extract the files to a directory of your choice. IN THAT DIRECTORY COPY in a GOOD menu.ini file.

THEN take the same program (i Think) If not another XISO MAKER program.
Create the .ISO file again.

Now BURN THIS new .iso file (that has the menu.ini file inside)

This time.  boot up the xbox with this cd inside.
Evolution-x will now boot up USING the menu.ini file ON THE CD.
Evo looks there by default first . THEN the c:

Then of course when you boot up to this cd you can now connect and erase the bad menu.ini file.

----

If you want.  I am sure you can just burn the files as an .iso file ...but you will need to search for the settings to use and the best programs to burn the xbox cd.

Hope this helps.  Just have to get the menu.ini file on the evo cd.
I did this and it helps BIG TIME in emergency cases.

No problem.

I basically had the same problem because I was using the evo dashboard and I always move my xbox around and is always unplugged alot of the times.  So the date and time need to be set otherwise it will not boot to evo dahsboard.
Basically same problem..thank goodness for the solution!

But keep that disk for emergencies.
Remember it has a blank menu.ini file on it and it will always use that when the cd is used.
So you might make another one without the menu.ini file and let it use the one on the c: IF you need to do that for certain programs and such.
