Title: Dvd Burner Or Bigger Hd For Xbox?
Post by: nitemare on July 29, 2002, 11:11:00 PM
ok. i just installed evolution-x and think its amazing. my dilemma (which is a good one) is, should i invest in a dvd burner or a bigger hd for xbox? now, i can defitanely use the dvd burner for PS2 and others ofcourse.  I am leaning towards the DVD burner just because it seems more versatile.  what are your opinions?

Plus those hard drive's are so expensive and serve only one purpose.  But hey to each their own.

A 120Gb HD costs 200 euro's, (About 200 dollars at the moment) so 1.6 dollar per Gb

a dvd burner costs 450 euro (dvd+rw one which is best if you'll also use it for your pc) and discs cost about 8 euro's

So a dvd costs 1.7 dollar per Gb, and that is not counting the initial 450 dollar purchase of the burner.

thanks for your replies!

pioneer A04 goes for $240 approx.  WD 120GIG HD goes for $200. So its pretty close. I rather have both ofcourse, but i think a dvd burner is my first choice.

Yeah.... yesbuy.net has DVD-RW for 1.20 each, in 10packs or bigger.

PRINCOs but so far they work.

get a dvd burner. then if you want to copy the game to your hdd at a later time. just plop the burned dvdr into your PC (assuming you burned using the UDF method) and ftp it over to the X-HDD.
Simply storing the games on the hdd works fine but at ~4GB a game, a 120gb drive will only hold around 30games before it gets filled

Also, making coasters isn't an issue with an HD in your box.  Just copy the game and go. smile.gif
