Title: Flashing Bios W/ Enigmah-x Final
Post by: Xustu on July 29, 2002, 02:00:00 PM
ok  I've read up a lot about flashing the bios with evo 2.1 and 2.2 and this sounds like something i really want to do.  My chip is the enigmah-x final and i'm running evo-x no and enjoying launching games from the hd but only haveing about 4 gigs open is a pain.

1. can I flash the on-board bios with the enigmah chip?   I know once the deed is done i won't need it anymore but is the actual process possible with an enigmah in the xbox?

2. i know how to figure out what kind of orignial bios chip i have but how exactly do you cut wires from the mod chip while the xbox is on?   do you have it upside down with no case to do it?      my chip install  is inbetween the mobo and the case, is that bad?

any help would be great
thanks!

1.  Yes, you can do it with an enigmah in the box, I've done it myself.

2.  You don't need to cut ALL the wires on the chip.  On Enigmah, just cut wires 15&21.

I did this by opening the box and lengthening wires 15 and 21 so they're long enough to hang out of the box.  I booted with the enigmah chip still working, the cover of the xbox removed, and booted up the flash program, cut the two wires, and flashed the onboard bios.  Once those two wires are cut your enigmah is no longer electrically viable, or necessary. I pulled out the motherboard and desoldered the chip and was done.

Mind you, you don't have to do it my way, there are other ways that surely work.
