I'm going to bet failed mod job with lifted traces. Anyone wanna take a gamble? :P I love guessing at these things ahead of time! Also going to guess it will be a 1.1 with a thompson dvd drive.

if it does not fully boot I bet it's a HDD error, meaning dead or damaged HDD. A failed mod will not even partially boot since the tsop BIOS cannot be loaded. Just my guess but I think a good one.

That would be nice, i've got an extra original xbox HD and the key to unlock it :)
Turned out to be a v1.0, thompson drive, wd hard drive.
+jewel is a custom one, going to try and reclear it for future use.
+well done blue lighted controller ports and eject button
-mobo is trashed, bad mod chip removal appears to be the cause
-dvd-rom seems to work but is noisy
-hard drive seems to work but its noisy
-paint job is really crappy up close
So i'll sand down the box and repaint it, probably do the window thing with it. Not sure about the rest. Will likely keep everything as a project box, maybe if I get lucky find a working 1.0 mobo and buy a replacement case for it :) Not sure what I want to do in the end with it as a whole.
