Title: Xbox Problem

when i boot my v10.0 xbox all i get is:the cpu made a popping noise because the heat sink was off ....

is the mobo fried?

it was doing this before i stupidly took the heatsink and let the cpu pop (i didnt know it would pop)

welll it was late.. i took the heatsink off to LOOK at the cpu... then i forgot to put it back on.. fired it up.. 1 minute later im like "FUCK"

That poping sound you heard was the remnants of your procesor leting out a tiny little scream as it died forever...

Your xbox motherboard is hosed...

Version 10.0?

did you mean 1.0?

Hit ebay and buy a new board...

Actually not quite.

Thankfully the Xbox uses INTEL chips not AMD... in this regard.

Intel chips have thermal-current limiters on board.

If they get too hot, they merely shut down.

ORANGE is usually a good sign, because it means that the CPU started but did not get very far executing code.

To go orange it has to probe the video stuff via some BIOS/KERNEL code.

If the latter is not readable it drops right into a frag instead.
