I normally never get higher than 3500 KB/s, but it tops at 8000 KB/s. Would it go faster if i modded the ethernet part of the xbox?
-
It *could* but the port is already 10/100 mbps which is probably the most you'll want for it, and easier way is to limit the distance between xbox and pc, otherwise that's about all you can do
-
lucky i never even reach 2000
-
Yeh, I was about to say, I rarely get those speeds, and mine's like 25 ft away
-
A lot of it depends on how your connecting your two systems.
a normal hub is the worst way
a normal switch is a bit better
direct connection with a small cross-over cable is the best way.
given that your equipment should be 100 mbps most of your delay will come from package collisions... the x-over cable will reduce those collisions cause you'll only have 2 systems on the network.
Using my laptop right next to the XBOX has really increased my transfer time. Before on my Router/Switch it was a lot slower.

You get 3500? I get around 2200 and its about 10 feet away!
-
some ftp clients start to kill your computer at 2000k/s it might be your computers end. also if you don't have dma enabled on your computers hard drive you won't get past that. I use flashFPX and I never get below 5000k/s wtih the stock drive or my upgraded drive.
-
I get 6000-7000 constant never any less, from xbox to PC I get 11,000.
-
Moved to tech chat.
For reference, I have a 20 foot crossover cable, and from my PC to my Xbox I get a constant 8,500 KB/s. I use Windows XP and FlashFXP.
-
It should be more or less impossible to lose speed due t collisions with your xbox and pc plugged into a switch assuming only your pc is attempting communication with your xbox and vise versa during the transfer to/from the xbox.

I use a linksys 4 port router and my cable to my xbox is 25 feet and then a 5 foot one to teh PC.
I usually get about 10000 from xbox to pc
