I am actaully starting some planning to do this.  Basically, I want to wire a USB hub in place of a controller port, then wire that controller port, the DVD dongle, and 2 usb plugs to the port.  The only real thing im not sure of is where to put the ir reciever.  I thought trying to replace the eject button with it, but I'm not sure that would work.

If any one has done this, or if someone has some pointers, it would be great.

The best pic I have... hope you can make I out...

1:  the DVD receiver without plastic. The long wire is to the receiver diode in the front of the box… see pic 3

2: the inside of the box… And the airflow is good to, and there is just room enough.

3: the eye form the original kit mounted in the front make it look good ( I think )

Hope you can use this… I just soldered the wire from controller port 4 directly to the kit..
I will mount a switch on the wires later so I can still switch to the controller port

Why do you need to install a switch?  Will the MB only recognize 4 usb ports?  Why not splice into the fourth port?  This should give you five ports.  Am I just on drugs or will this work?

I don't understand where the dvd dongle has gone unless I am mistake.  I have take my dvd dongle apart and it doesn't look like any of the pictures above.  Did he take the ir reciever off and place it in the front?

Yes the IR reciver itself is desoldered from the pcb and moundet it in the front behind the "eye" from the original dongel

you can see the pcb from the dongle on the first pic but it´s raped in tape... and the wires to the IR reciver and USB port in each end

Then am I to assume he connect a 5th usb port to the 4th usb port to use the dongle or did he just remove the leads to the daughter board of the 4th usb port and use it to connect to the 5th usb port which holds the pcb.

I have one more question:  How did he get the ir reciever to stay in the ir shield?

Did you remove the port adapter on the DVD dongle?  Do you have a wiring diagram.

This is plain simple... you just connect the wires to the input on the dongle... no big deal..

and no the port is still there

Why don't you send it to a mod or post it in the tutorials for all to see?  Before someone else does.  This make you look like you know what you are doing.  I can make mine own but would prefer not to be redundant.  I am sure others would appreciate the same.  Cause if I do it I am going to post it here and in the tutorials.
