or u can just crack flashfxp |
Now, now, we don't do that sort of thing, do we?
I think plaudits given to anyone who provides news of good free alternatives to necessary programs.
pdottz.
I use Filezilla, because I refuse to "crack" FlashFXP and because I support open source stuff. Everyone and his dog uses FlashFXP here, and it is mentioned in all the tutorials, but I wonder how many people have a) cracked it
wait for the 30 second "nag' screen, or c) actually paid money for it
Piracy is too easy nowadays with bittorrents - support open source!
thanks for the heads-up pdottz!
looks like it is now called FTPRush as the source was sold to another developer.
ultrafxp.com -> www.ftprush.com
Thanks for the heads up. Too bad I didn't know about it two weeks ago when I registered my version of flashfxp.
Smart ftp has worked very well for me and its free and regularly updated. I highly recommend it.

FTPRush is shareware and you can free to try it for 30 days, No any adware, spyware, virus at FTPRush Installer package or Executable file.
hmm...sounds like i better find a mirror or something that has the old ultrafxp version...

Yeah just crack FlashFXP... Who cares about the developers who created the program, they shouldn't get paid for their hard work...
if all u need to do is transfer files, just use internet explorer.

idiot
to hell with using IE for ftp! i'd rather use the damn command-line!
i use ace ftp freeware . u can get it from download.com. i have had no probs with it
Are you kidding me? Who pays for software these days? There is a FREE version of every type of program you could ever need out there! I mean, paying for an FTP Client? You have to be kidding me...
How in the hell does it affect anyone differently if:
1) You crack a pay FTP Client.
or
2) You install a freeware FTP Client.
Either way, no one is going to get money, right?
It is not like you cracked one and paid for another, and you would have paid for both but you didn't because you found a crack. That is the ONLY type of scenario that hurts developers...
Actually, wouldn't the developer rather have you use their program over a free program anyway? Maybe you will become loyal to the product and purchase it later, who knows?
Ahh... I give up, I guess I will just never understand how people can think so "black and white". There is a GRAY area!

So what's the difference, it's not like it costs them anything for me to use it, so how does it hurt anything |
And on top of that, you were watching THEIR ADVERTISEMENTS. So wouldn't they rather you see them then not?
It is only Piracy if you would have paid for it in the first place, IMHO.

No piracy necessary. |
VERY TRUE. If you can find a free program that does what you need, use it
PENiX, I replied to you in your link
UltraFXP is the best... PERIOD!
Do any of these programs offer faster speeds over another or is it much of a muchness?
To add to the whole its illegal debate. I can guarentee that everyone here is breaking copyright with there xbox or does that not count?
I dont see anything wrong with using Internet Explorer as the FTPing program... why does now one utilize this simple program??
Can rely on peeps to turn a simple post into an anti piracy protest...
anyways, heres the link for ultrafxp
ultrafxp download
Uuummm... haven't seen anyone mention the Free/OSS FTP prog Filezilla. http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/

I've been looking for replacement software for all the trial version of stuff i have on my pc.
since flashfxp is pay I looked around and found one I actually like better. it's called ultrafxp. it's basically a clone, you can even throw out those raw commands like flashfxp. totally free solution I haven't found any bugs in it at all. even has a renaming function for those long filenames. |
sweet thanks a bunch..been looking for alternitives..myself..couldnt find nything i liked.this si great..awsome! :thumb:
im using flash fxp now, and its a pain to rename files to ones that will upload to xbox, is this feature in flash fxp and i dont know of it, or is it unique to the free one you mention?

UnleashX can rename the files for you. You have to enable this feature in one of the settings menu. I think it is in the network settings, but not sure.
Once you enable it, it will work with any FTP client.
Best way is just to map the network drive. Easy as that, then just goto your network places and click on your xbox link in windows explorer. Just acts like another folder, VERY easy to transfer files and its fast.

hey, thanks for that info, im allready using unleash, and like it a lot, ill give that a try when i get home

i never knew that unleashx renamed the files for me? so does that mean if you have a file that isnt compatable with the xbox unleashx will rename it or remove the wrong character so it will transfer? |
Yes as long as you have this feature enabled.

Exactly. But I don't know the logic - which characters it replaces and which it removes. It doesn't really matter since it works beautifully.

How do you do that?
Hey melon, if you want to map the drive, PM me and i will pm back on how to do it, im at work right now though. So it would be a lil later today, or hit me up on AIM if you have it.
I prefer SmartFTP, it is free for personal use and has a very nice interface.
When you use the queue with multi-threading it can be must faster than a single transfer.
cool ill try this now!
