hey masarripa, i got some friendly advice for you

one thing about llamma.com that you have to keep in mind that most of the xbox stuff is way overpriced. if you were to buy a samsung from them, it would cost you $60 plus shipping (might as well just buy a used xbox from gamestop).
if you plan on spending that much, then my suggestion is this:
go to divineo.com and get the adapter for the LG DVD Drive 8164 drive, then search around and buy the drive.
depending on what is wrong with your current drive you could also try a pod tweak.
also, i have a Hitachi LG drive that has never had any problems before, if you want i will sell you that for $26 shipped.
PM me if you are interested in the Hitachi

What dvd drive do you currently have?
I have a Samsung SDG 605b that just came in on Saturday.
It reads discs just fine, but the cog belt is a bit worn (typical for a samsung drive) so it ejects just fine but does not have enough power to close the tray most of the time. If you already have a Sammy drive, you can reuse the belt you currently have and put into this dvd drive.
By the way, the LG 8164 drives when modified with the PATX adapter work great, but cannot read dual layer xbox games. Just a heads up on that.

hey sorry i couldnt get back to you sooner, i have had so much going on i havent been able to get on the scene
. the Hitachi LG drive is an xbox drive, it is just rarely seen because i think it was only used for a short time. it was in my friends stock xbox when he modded it.
it has never had any problems before and will read all xbox games. just let me know if you want it and ill send it to you for $26 shipped.

P.S.
the other day i saw something i thought was quite odd, at gamestop they have used xboxes for 60 bucks. the only thing is that the one they had on display had been opened
just another reason you should buy your stuff from people here on the scene
