*Fixed HTTP Proxy settings/saving
*Fixed Password/Passcode is ignored when showing the context menu.

tag instead.

*Changed Flicker Filter level set to 2 by default
*Changed Soften display set to True by default

for line thickness, instead of drawing the lines several times.

bubbling up when screensave is active.
*Changed System Settings and put ScreenSaver in its own section

*Changed Only one ftp client can transfer in boost mode at anytime.
*Changed Networking internal parameters to improve data throughput.

 (useful for video screensavers).

*Added Additional check to ensure randomness when selecting music.
*Added "Info" IR button maps to "Y" button so you invoke file downloading

Note: This is a Quick fix release -some reported bugs may still exists.
Make sure your xbe, zipped skin file, custom music...etc., doesn't contain multiple
periods (".") in its file name. It seems the search file API has a problem when
using search filter such as "*.mp3" or "*.zip". It won't return files like
"my.cool.song.mp3". I'll take a look on this and it's probably something wrong on my
part, but I don't wanna take out the filter and check for the extension myself.
I'm using the standard FindFirstFile/FindNextFile API, if anyone has a tip, that
 would be cool.

Note: Downloading of game saves is subject to the rules and regulations of the site.
Please support them by visiting their site.

Start by invoking the menu item editor, select the appropriate option, then hit
"Start" to bring up a context menu. Thanks to BLazeD, koldfuzion, flattspot...etc
for building and maintaining the online game DB.

Fantastic - the more I use it, the more I love it. beerchug.gif

The only thing I notice is the long lag when loading skins like Electric. OK, you have removed the blue screen (great) but there is a screen flash after about 4 secs and then another 3-4 secs before Electric loads. I realise this is a skin issue, but thought I would mention it.
That is why I stick to the default skin which is very fast to reload biggrin.gif
Features=unbeatable.
Thank you again.

I seem to be having a problem with the Game Save Manager. Whenever I try to launch it I get an error which says:

"Unable to execute command.
Item: Game Saves Manager
Action: GameManager"

Any ideals?

Ok Bug I think in the download skin browser if you press Y and then allxboxskins scoll down all is ok press B to get back to the skin select menu selct xboxskins and then scroll down once you get off the page it dosn't scroll you have to go back out of skin selecter and start again

It works the other way too select xboxskins first

Also is it just me or does the text editor need to have a little more safe border on it I'm scrolling down 4 lines off the bottem and and the edges really touch the sides of the screen. And yes I had calibrated it properly

This is cut and pasted directly from the Config.xml included with the latest build.

Game Saves Manager

I realize it used to be "SavesManager" in previous builds but, either way. I've tried it both ways and can't get it to work either way.

Is it working correctly for you? <

Another Bug of Sorts

I was downloading a save game that turned out to be over 2 meg so I wanted to cancel it Dialup you see seeing no cancel button I pressed the B button hoping it would work. Sure enough it took me out to the main menu but the Save Game was still downloading with no dialog telling me. So I killed the connection with firewall and UnleashX didn't say boo

And Yes MarineWx29 it does work for me <

smile.gif and don't bother to fix the bugs that have popped up in the releases before. Please keep this up. I can't wait to see what new features you have in store for us. I can already see some waiting to be done (easy Xbox-2-Xbox game and gamesave transfers anyone?). This dashboard is already loaded with great features and is rock solid. I love recommending it to people and do so every chance I get.

Please allow me to paypal you unleashx you deserve it so much.

Same problem for me. When choose a menu option that takes me to a submenu, the background music hiccups. My background music is in WMA format, created by the WMA converter that comes with the Windows Media Player bonus pack... They have played fine (no stuttering) in the previous builds, so I think something new has came up wink.gif

Other than that, no problems thusfar. I am sticking with this new build just for the fact that the blue screen is gone. I can live with the audio issue in the meantime! Thanks for the update beerchug.gif

A other thing, is it possible to switch to pal when the dashboard is launched, for example, i've a pal console, when i boot my xbox, my dash is in pal, then i play a ntsc game, unleash change the mode from pal to ntsc, but then when i reset the game and go to unleashx, the dash is still in ntsc. Is it possible to switch again in pal mode just with the same method used for switch to ntsc ?

Hey!, this is a greeeat idea!, plz, UnleashX take this into account wink.gif

Thanx unleashx for fixing most of the bugs, your dashboard is the best!!
Theres one feature I would like to see on the next relese though (language selection), so that the contex menus, settings menu, and the file manager's menus could be translated to other languages. I can help making the languge translations for spanish, french, and german. please PM me if you need any help.

You will need to add a sensor to your case for that.

I think this dash is awsome. Only thing is the dashboard itself like kinda dark compared to EVOX. I have tried different skins. Also if you can add trainers in dash like EVOX then there would be no reason to use EVOX anymore.

Bug: Autoload DVD program freezes when network is enabled and the xbox is not connected to a network. This only happens when a DVD is in the drive when you power on the xbox. When I am connected to my PC or network it works fine but when not connected it will lockup the dash unless network is disabled in the settings.

Besides that I love everything about this dash. I have used it since the first release and it has come very far. Keep up the good work.

No need to add a sensor... because Evox already shows the HD temperature using the HDD Smart capacity. So I think UnleashX can do this too!

There appears to be a problem when using a video for a screensaver.

I have left the screensaver default of 60 seconds. After 60 seconds the screensaver comes on and the video displays correctly. Now I press a button on the controller and it goes back to the menu. So far so good. But, if I leave the xbox alone and wait another 60 seconds to let the screensaver come back up, it will, but this time the video plays at double the speed. If I repeat the process the video plays even faster and so on and so on. I have to reboot in order for the screensaver to play correctly again.

I am using a wmv file with the proper encoding for the xbox. Can anyone else confirm this problem? Is this a bug?

Yeah i can confirm it, altough i haven't gone to such lengths to investigate the matter. But my impression was that it played speed-up until it catched up to where it left of the last time.. Because i "kinda" remember the wmv to play normally after a while.. But... it could also be my schizophrenic nature. But confirmation i have given, and some moral support____!!??!

Actually, it is the other way round - you can safely leave the config.xml from yr previous install, but you *must* replace the default.xbe as that is the new program.
Better yet, rename it to suit your boot-up preference in yr bios and put in C:. It's worth it, best version yet! biggrin.gif

edit: noticed yr sig, so you are running UnleashX as boot-up dash already right?
As I use 4983 also, which boots avalaunch.xbe first, I rename unleash as avalaunch.xbe, and leave Evox as evoxdash.xbe as "back-up" for trainers etc.

There's something that I found:

When I start "Complex Tools v1.60" or the "BIOS Checker v2.07" (both from the same group/person?), UnleashX will totally crash. U can't move the cursor, the music stops and u can do no InGameReset, just a power off will fix it.

I'm using the UnleashX_0_36_0620A-Version with a 1.0 Xbox, Aladin Mod and i'm booting unleash from c:/.

I know, that there was the same problem in the older versions of UnleashX (f.e. UnleashX_0_35_0605A).

When I start one of these programs with EvoX, they work fine.

Is that a known problem?

Second thing:
I've decorated all my Emulators and Programms with new Buttons (with the command
Game Boy Advance
f.e.) in the Default Skin.
Since I've done this, Unleash will stock, when I move the cursor. When im changing the titles fast, the original "X"-Logo will appear. The preview-pictures are all 128x128 pixel and in the png-format.

(please excuse my bad english, i hope, u can understand me)

By corrupted, it means the gamesave and its sub game saves show up and work fine but the displayed icon is covered by what I can best describe as static that is similar to when a tv channel can't focus in on a tv signal and all of that snow/static covers up the image. I'll see if I can take a screen shot later when I have some time...

Also when manually skipping between tracks and soundtracks the name of the song becomes out of sync with what is actually playing. I think that is just with the mp3s though. My wmas work fine.

5) I dunno if this is to do with the dash but somehow Xpong, which I had left as using no icon and has no built in icon or makes no saves, has decided to start using the noiz2saX icon. I tried fiddling around with the Edit Item options but couldn't see a way to delete the line telling it where the icon was for Xpong. Would I have to edit the Items.xml manually perhaps?

Anyway, Thank you UX for an otherwise AWESOME dash!

3) It does apply it properly. You just have to configure it for all possible settings. The dash keeps its settings for each mode. I bet you were playing a game and you used the auto-video mode switching. If you configured your screen for NTSC, then, you have to configure it also for PAL (and 480p, 720p, 1080i if you use those).

You were 100% right on this one, I was playing an NTSC game an a PAL box. I configured it and it's fine now biggrin.gif

Hey guys, sorry for popping in and out of the board. Can't seem to keep a steady schedule. Anyways, I managed to do some small fixes. Most are what has been reported here and then a few more.

Rest assured, every free time I get is going into the dash. I've also been playing with the FTP server code and tried a few different things. You should see some improvement on the speed for the next release.

Here's what has been fixed so far (untested by beta testers yet and haven't even done a release)

nasty flicker with scrolling text
Default destination when backing up
Lock-ups when loading titles and the network stack hasn't finished initializing first -requires further testing
text editor borders on PAL
music skipping (will work on this some more)
music randomness
a few more, I already forgot -don't have the list ATM.

Also, I hope I fixed the problem with the corrupted games, as well as, the dash locking up when going to emu/apps folder -requires further testing as this never happened to me. I'm also planning to change the MP3 decoder, but let's see -kinda mid to low priority at the moment.

I'll also work on the live update feature. I'm planning to do releases more often and will probably make stable beta builds available for updates, but only when the dash is running as an app so as not to mess the default dash. You could retain the official release as the default dash and run the beta build as an app. Then, it's up to you if you want to make it the default, after testing of course.

I'm not really sure if this is the problem that people are having with the emu/apps folder, but I'll give you my experience and fix and hope it help a few of you out there..

Problem:
1) Load up UnleashX (Any skin that displays those thumnails for the games/apps)
2) go to the games menu
3) Freeze (most of the times)

This freezing started happening when I added FBAX to the games folder on my HDD..

After doing some minor testing, and using different skins, I came to the conclusion that it wasn't handeling the loading of that thumbnail, and that the thumbnail is probably corrupt, or something to that nature.

ftp'ing to the xbox, I did some digging, found out where the thumbnail was stored (E:/udata/######/titleimage.xbx) - (###### being those funky folders for all the apps)

What I did was I copied the titleimage.xbx from a different folder (ie the one for dvdx2) and pasted it into the folder of said "corrupt" titleimage.xbx (thereby over writiting it).

After doing that, I launched UnleashX up again, went to the games menu, and no more crashing. (mind you my FBAX thumbnail showed the dvdx2 thumnail.. but that's ok.)

reason for ftp'ing to the xbox even though in UnleashX you have the option to point to the thumnail file of choice, is because it was not an option to do it in UnleashX as selecting the program in the list would freeze up the xbox.

So don't know if that help / effects anyone.. but hopefully it does, cause it was a pain... but.. I didn't want to switch to a different dash! beerchug.gif

Thanks man ! You´ve just solved my apps freeze problem !

I've had problems with almost every aspect of UX. so I deleted everything off C and E drives using the ftp and booted from a UX cd, I then formatted C and E. I later put UX back on to the drive and uploaded Sounds and Fonts folder from a back up archive. UnleashX works like a charm. I currently have UX named as xboxdash.xbe so I dont use the xodash or xboxdashdata.xxxxxx folders anymore .. It seems that UX appears instantly if there is no data on C: (maybe it takes a long time to load sounds/pictures?) -- I would recommend backing up and reformatting for anyone who is having trouble.

here's my batch script for formatting C:

<List Text="Format C Drive" Sort="Off" Batch="True">

Are you sure you want to format Drive C?

Press OK to proceed with the format operation.

Format C Drive

</List>

I've reformatted once again and now UnleashX lags when I select a menu item, I'm not sure what is causing this but there's something wrong. It seems to me after deleting my old config.xml and letting UnleashX generate its own xml file that somewhere it says "true" instead of "yes" or vice-versa. That might cause a problem somewhere along the way. Also when I add a password to several batch scripts and change several settings, UnleashX will not load XBE's anymore..it just freezes.

Edit:

Excessive lagging was due to corrupt audio folder. That'll do it I suppose.

Hey, i seem to be having a bug in the latest release regarding passcodes,
when i enter a passcoded submenu the first time after a bootup, it correctly asks
for the passcode, however, if i've entered it correctly once, then leave the submenu, then try to re-enter it again, it doesn't ask for the passcode anymore,
but just allows me in.

It doesn't happen for passwords, if i set a password on it instead of a passcode,
it works correctly.

Can anyone confirm this / Can this get fixed in the next release?

another bug...

Most mp3's wont play or get detected in unleash as BGMat all.
1 reason i found is that if the mp3 has ID3 tags in both versions (there are 2 versions if ID3) it wont play.
2 it seems that if you have too many spaces in the file names, they wont play either.

I removed ALL ID3 tags (and spaces and other charactors) from 5 mp3 files as a test and still only 2 played. Change of mp3 decoder might fix the job. Same goes for XMBC. It will only read version 1 ID3 tagged mp3s

As for the "." in the file names of mp3's and searching/random, Use a "length" statement to only look for the last 3 or 4 charactors of the filenames... "mp3" or ".mp3" and check for a match to a search.

Also.. the bug fix for launching a application before the BGM starts does still exist but it only happens with XBMC for me.

Scrolling down too far and fast when in the list for downloading skins, some times hides the selection bar and does not reapear yet the list still scrolls on the screen and you cant see what your selecting unless you exit and re-enter download manager. this happens even if you have perview turned on or off.

But thats about it.....once again ...excellent job and love it!!!!!!

I also use the 4981.67 bios with UX and dont have any problems with or without a network cable plugged in.

Do you have the same problem on yours?

Also, while I understand that not everyone can afford a modchip when they want it, but try to stay clear of TSOP.
Hang out an save or wait untill a chip drop in price and then mod ya box.
You have MAJOR advantages over TSOP when using a chip.

If you go to the system area in settings and change anything then go to the bottom and save it gives you an error. The only thing I tried to change was my xbox nickname and it gave me an error everytime, however it still changed the nickname.

EDIT: I do have a problem though. When I first installed UnleashX, FTP worked great. But right now it seems Internet Explorer (I know, I know, but I'm lazy and I like the drag and drop) can't FTP in; it hangs as if it can't find it. If I open EvolutionX, IE can find it again immediately. Go back to UnleashX, IE stops working. I assumed the FTP just wasn't working, but the wierd thing is, Fetch (the FTP client I have on my Mac) works fine with UnleashX. And I seem to recall that IE used to work, too, so I'm baffled by this one. unsure.gif

Error when displaying widescreen skins.

For some reason the objects you throw out onto the skin gets displaced by approx. 30 pixels to the right. I know i've brought this up before when betatesting UXA and it was concluded that the problem lies with UX and not UXA since according to the background image the top & left position is accurate. However i haven't had this problem with Inertias skins but then they are not natively 720x480 as the skin backgrounds i have been working with are. My guess is that it has something to do with safeborders or some faulty rezising. Not sure if this ever got to your attention or not but i posted it just in case.

Cheers and thanks for a great dashboard!

Here is a great ftp tutorial if you are stuck with something http://www.chefelf.c.../networking.pdf It maybe also that you just need to change the network settings in system menu. beerchug.gif

hey, i got a feature request, though i know its been requested before..
a lightweight smb server, maybe instead of ftp, i know it eats a lot of ram,
but maybe a seperate version could be released for the people who have a ram
upgrade?
i'd hack it in myself, but the source isn't public, as far as i know

I think a cool feature for this dashboard would be a setting to have Playlists ofr the music and to have video playlists to play as long as a preview video isn't playing. Then I could have random music videos playing. Thanks.

Hi,

I trade my last console to a more recent, with the UDE exploit and the dashboard Unleashx, installed.
The problem is that with this console i can't do the reset with the pad, neither with the LT + RT + Start + Back, or LT + RT + Back + Black.
Well in the dashboard this works, but in another application like the XBMC or a game, it don't work.
Any ideas?

Thanks

I think you were using the IGR built into the dashboard EvoX. If you are using UDE you will need to use a bios that has IGR in it. UnleashX does and will not have its own IGR built in because this is more a function of the bios. Both the X2 BFM bioses and the new EvoX m8 bios (m8 bios only included in the Metoo Bios Loader Package) have their own IGR. You can find these bioses in the usual place. beerchug.gif I hope that helps.

Hi

I have a 1.1 xbox in PAL mode, and some NTSC game. UnleashX identifies the game as NTSC and STILL launches it in PAL mode. I can tell because the widescreen doesnt swap automatically and the sound stutters.

It all works fine if I use the enigmah video mode switcher, but this can kill my eeprom after some time..

What could I be doing wrong?
I have searched and tbh "pal/ntsc/video mode switching" are very common keywords and hard to pinpoint an exact answer.

Any help/suggestions appreciated

example games:
baldurs gate2, bloodray2, the bards tale
all being run from hard disk

thanks, a noob

An Update to this problem:

I have tested several games from NTSC to PAL to Multi Region now, and if the video mode in the EEPROM is set to PAL, no amount of forcing anything in UnleashX makes the
NTSC games work in NTSC mode. EXCEPT where the NTSC games like Burnout3 seem to figure things out on their own. Tested with EvolutionX and UnleashX as dashboards....

Is this a known issue? Is there a possible fix? Or is it simply up to the actual game?

Post by: new2moddin on November 03, 2004, 06:55:00 AM
i dunno. I'm still hoping for some sort of fix.

i've tried changing the region in the items.xml, toggling autoswitch and the different regions......

and my eeprom is always in PAL mode.

can only play NTSC games properly under EvoX which is a real pain, as it used to autoswitch no problems. Forcing a pal game into NTSC used to work as well.

now it's as though the feature is totally dead.

i was beginning to suspect my Xenium's XOS, but considering you don't have xenium and are having the same problem. I'm totally lost.

If you happen to stumble across a fix for it..... please PM me or something.

thanks.

This kind of attitude is precisely the reason why I never gave release dates of future versions.

I have a problem with unleashX reading data disks, whats the deal? I use files explorer but it doesnt read them, I have a samsung so I Know it is reading it correctly especially because unleashx launches the file explorer when I have a data disk in the drive it just doesnt see the files. if it hasnt been fixed already for the next build or WIP please do so. And thanks for the .rar file support.

Suggestion for the future, more media compatability, I am looking for a all-in-one dashboard solution with the stuff unleashX can already do plus XBMC media compatability built in.

thanks for the great dash, and keep up the good work.

Im assuming your burning it as an ISO9660 DataMode1, make it non-ISO9660 datamode 2. I think thats what I did.

ISO9660 support is in the next version the reason it allready runs the file manager is that any unknown disc gets classed as a data disc and you must have autorun data set in the settings
