why dont you just go and buy him a used xbox and softmod it, i think they are down to $120 at ebgames or gamestop now since they lowered the prices.  You can then softmod it and save money.

I have a softmodded xbox w/clear case (and a couple of cracks towards the rear of the case), platinum xbox jewel, and red LED's in the controller ports. I customized it for a customer as he wanted a dirt cheap modded xbox (hence the used clear case w/small cracks), but he later backed out of the deal. I put a copper MCPX heatsink (better cooling) and an ATA 166 IDE cable in it for faster transfers.

it's running UnleashX as it's main dashboard and also has a bunch of applications on the stock hard drive. His primary reason for wanting the softmodded xbox was to use XBOX Media Center so he could listen to radio stations from around the world (and play xbox games).

There's absolutely no illegal content on hard drive... I didn't even put all the emulators on the hard drive (I won't put all the emulators on the hard drive either).

He was going to buy it for $140 and was to include the xbox, brand new (still in package) aftermarket controller, Brand New MS A/V Cables, and Brand New MS Power Cord (the free replacement ones).

Said he'd buy it next month if I still had it up for sale, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I spent $115 on it + my time putting everything together.

There's no M$ dash on it so you can't go on xbox live.

$145 shipped via USPS 2-3 day Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation if you want it.

Wish I could go lower on the price, but shipping it will cost just over $15 (properly packed to prevent damage) which means I'd only be getting $15 out of the deal for my time & labor since I paid $115 for all the parts (xbox, DVD drive, new controller, new A/V's, used clear case, heatsink, ATA 166 cable, etc....).
