Title: Xbox Ver Of Qwix ?
Post by: azzi on October 06, 2004, 03:16:00 PM
I've posted something similar, but I think I may suggest this app as a feature instead.

Xbox version of Qwix.

Requirements.

To browse network SMB shares direct from the Xbox (a'la XBMC) to list stored ISO's
The ability to Decompress and install Xiso from PC storage to F: (or E:).
The ability to Recompress Games into Xiso format back onto a Network share.

Xtra wants.

The ability to see free space on either the Xbox or PC and prompt if unsufficient space.

Perhaps a simple FTP style layout would suffice with the PC share on one side and the Xbox on the other with buttons for Upload/Download and erm ... "handshake" (for want of a better word)

Obviously somehow it will need to know that the ISO on the PC and the Decompressed game are the same file/folder.

Is this possible? I'm suprised no-one has brought anything like this out. Personally I have 2 Xbox with a 120GB and a 40GB, but a File server with 400GB+ of Xiso games. I'm getting a little sick of having to backup to server, then delete from the xbox to make space before installing the latest game to test.

Well, SMB won't touch the speed of boost, so it probably isn't the protocol to shoot for.
