Me too same problem. Wouldnt surprise me if it is something MS did deliberatly and targeted to xbox connections if not QWIX in particular. |
You have to be kidding me right?
You can't honestly think that with a straight face right?
Do you think MS would put out SP2 (or any part of it) just to screw up Quix/Xbox transfers...?
I have some ocean front property for sale up here in Alberta if you are interested man.
well, i've determined that it has something to do with the new windows firewall that's built into service pack 2. i disabled the firewall and i was able to transfer files just like i had been prior to installing the service pack. not sure what it could be doing though to block it, i told the firewall not to block Qwix.

I know it is the firewall.
I can transfer, but not as fast (100 KB/s compared to 2000 KB/s).
Guess we are alone, or no one else has noticed it.
I have to disable the firewall if I want to use Qwix.

Man They (MS) got alot more better things to do then just dissable QUIX in the New SP2
Its obviosly the Firewall thats stopping it!!
I've got the exact same problem. Disabling the firewall or allowing Qwix full access won't work
.
This kinda sucks, I like leaving the firewall on as I need my machine to be the DMZ against my router - it boggles the mind that adding QUIX.EXE to the exclusion list doesn't do the job though - doesn't Quix just use regular FTP Client ports, or does it do something wacky that I'll have to open a port for?
I've been having the exact same problem, but unfortunately turning off the XP Firewall didn't do the trick. (In fact it has been turned off since about 2 seconds after I installed SP2) I even tried just disabling the Windows Firewall service, but that didn't do the trick either.
The "Test Connections" button still works, and Ava shows "1 User Load" but I get a big fat 0.0KB/s.
LeechFTP seems to be working OK, but losing that extra extraction step is why I started using Ava/Qwix in the first place.
I have xp sp2 and avalunch 0.49.1 and have no issues with it. My average speed is about 4200kbps.
I do have the firewall disabled as the windows one is garbage. I don't know why, but for some reason I had to disable it twice. I disabled it originally through the shield icon that goes on your tray when you first install sp2, then it still seemed to be running so I disabled it through the Windows Firewall option in the control panel.
It really is a mystery to me why it's not working. Qwix + AVA won't work. Qwix + UnleashX works fine, and LeechFTP + AVA works fine.
Therefore it must be something to do with the combination of Qwix and Avalaunch. I went back and tried previous versions of AVA and the problem persists. I have tried with the settings QWix autodetects, and with passive mode turned off, still no go. I also tried disabling boost mode in Avalaunch but had no success.
It may be worth mentioning that QWix does seem to be able to create the first directory, (ie f:\games\blah) but it locks directly after that.
having the same problem. Any solutions?
Has anyone resolved this problem yet?
IlsonFan

Same here.
Turning off the Firewall didn't help
I have the same problem. I'm getting 500-600 KB/s with qwix but with flash fxp i can get 3000-4000KB/s. FlashFXP might be faster but i still have to extract with qwix so i dont bother.
I have firewall disabled and I still get 10mb/sec (same speed as before)...
However SP2 added 60+sec to my boot time...
YUP THAT DID IT FOR ME......................Sweet
Yeah it worked for one File but now it doesnt want to work for a new FILE, ALSO Unpacking QWIX again seems to do the trick as if it was newly installed.
right click on your "my computer" icon and goto "manage". under system tools and event viewer double click on system. if u got a whole bunch of errors saying <<EventID 4226: TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts>> then your going to need to hunt down the SP2 TCP patch. if not... *shrug*
works fine here . about 9 megs a sec using win xp with sp2,
What dashboard are you guys using with Qwix?

this sounds like my duplex problem i got months and months ago...it was the duplex setting in:
Start->Settings->Control Panel->System->Hardware [Tab]->Device Manager->- Network Adaptors ->Double Click your XBOX NIC-> advanced [Tab]->link & duplex-> 100mb/half duplex
OK,OK,OK,OK,OK etc...
Just to add 2 cents to everybody's *FIX*" list.. my settings are:
XBOX on STATIC IP: 192.168.1.10, with Gateway & DNS in the avalaunch.xml
PC's NIC set to "AUTO-NEGOTIATION"
- (On my older PC, I had to set it to FULL DUPLEX"
My XBOX is connected with CAT5 to a 10/100mbit switch, and my PC is connected to the same switch.
WinXP SP2's Firewall is *OFF*... In addition I set my computer to DMZ, so it appears outside the router's firewall.
Qwix is set to use bostmode
avalaunch.xml is said to use boostmode
I also with to avalaunch update, & updated everything...
another 2 cents, UnleashX + Qwix didn't work with boostmode, even with boostmode enabled in unleashx
My setup is great, Avalaunch is my default dashboard. If you still have errors, try killing the Avalaunch Save Game from within MS Dashboard & setup it again. I've 100% switched to Ava.. I was die hard UnleashX before then & EvoX before that.

Ive yet to use quix, but Im only getting transfers like so "30 kb/s"..That is HORRIBLE and I have broadband cable. Dont know whats the problem.
I havent even noticed this problem let alone have the problem. My transfers are still at 10MB/s before and after SP2 upgrade.
Just built a new PC, with XP SP2.
I'm connected through a wireless network to my Xbox.
I cannot upload any ISOs to my Xbox with Qwix. I can navigate with FlashFXP with no problems.
I tried forcing 100 half duplex, this does not solve my problem.
Tried Avalaunch 49.1 and 49.2
XP firewall is turned off, and the service is disabled under the "services" list.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I got winxp with sp2 installed and I got no problems at all. Got an avenger on ~9000kb/s.
Im running avalaunch 0.49.2.
I tryed that firewall exeption thing and it didn't work, but i set the compatibilty wizard to run it like windows 98 and now it works. don't know it thats been done before, but it might work for others
I recently put together a new computer, and installed the full version of Win XP w/SP2. With this, I have Quix unblocked at the Windows firewall, and the firewall enabled. I have a linksys Wireless router, and the firewall in it is disabled.
Quix works fine except for trying multiple ISO transfers, and of course, as it says in the info for Quix, NEVER try to abort an upload. Neither Quix or Avalaunch can deal with it, and they both crash. It took me a few tries to find out that when Quix crashes, you might save some time and headaches, to reboot windows and your Xbox. Avqalaunch never recovers, and Quix rarely does.
I have heard of problems with the windows firewall on the SP2 upgrade that doen't exist on the release of Win XP, such as it not always unblocking the requested program. Also, I've heard with both versions, that Windows sometimes resets itself to a firewall state. I have never experienced this, but it may have something to do with the fact that I always go to the control panel to configure it, as seemed to work for one other member.
So maybe a solution would be the full version of Win XP with SP2, and be sure if you are using a router, that the firewall on it is disabled.
I didnt try it with the router firewall on, but I assume it would work if you are just sending ISO's to a larger HDD, but probably not it you are trying to look at the HDD or rip a game. But if you are using Avalaunch, you probably need full function, so you would either need to open a port, or disable the firewall.
I am also experiencing a slow down recently. I was getting speeds of 9000 but now 30-400. Hadn't transfered files for a while so I can't be sure if SP2 is the problem as I installed Protowall recently as well, however,I discovered Protowall causing slowdowns with a Realtec NIC. Disable Protowall in network settings on the NIC and speeds increase to around 5000. Slow downs Occured even when Protowall wasn't running, you must disable it in NIC properties. In the Protowall forums, Realtec NICS are a known problem for slow downs. Still can't get back to where I was but speeds are acceptible now. Hope this helps as SP2 may not be everyones problem
also getting the same problems of the 0.00KB/s transfer and qwix just sitting there
i have a nvidia nforce3 250Gb motherboard with built in gigabit ethernet.. and i have the nforce3 hardware accellerated firewall off.. and i tried setting the xfer mode to 100mbps half and full and all other things and auto.. it makes no difference
i can transfer fine with flashfxp.. and fileboost works to boost my mp3s.. so i dont know what the problem is..
also running windows xp sp2
