79 Series Mods:
before you try to put a 79 passkey on and f*ck up your drive, consider the
option of downgrading your 79 series drive to a 78 and then having it patched
with iXtreme 1.4 and spoofed back to look like a 79.
I'm seeing alot of noobs with 79 drives that get a 79 passkey and end up
f*cking up their drives because they can't solder worth a sh*t.
If you are in the USA or Canada and don't want to bother with your drives,
consider sending it to someone like myself that can do it right..
I don't use the 79 passkey.. I take the flashchip off and extract your key and
then erase the chip and program it with original 78 firmware. then I patch it
with iXtreme 1.4 and spoof it to look like a 79 drive, as well I inject your DVD
key into it..
future firmware upgrades are easier because the drive is a 78 and it already
has an iXtreme firmware patch to it. you won't need a SLAX cd to get it recognized
into Windows.
The only time you need the SLAX cd is if the drive has original 78 firmware on it
with no iXtreme firmware on it.
you can PM me for a price quote. but I will tell you up front that I charge $50 and
that includes shipping back to you... now if the drive is fubared, because you have
f*cked it up, I have 2 options.. $15 to extract your DVD key and I email it to you
and I keep the 79 drive for parts, or $50 to actually fix your drive and ship it back
to you..
but word of caution, if you have fubared your drive and it doesn't power up, all I
can guarantee is a DVD key extraction.. and that's $15.
