GREAT GUY!!! He Modded my XBOX and did a great job! He took extra time to explain things to me and took extra steps to insure the mod was done right. All my friends where scared to get their XBOX modded until they came and played on mine once he was done. One of my friends went the next day to get his modded. Now I have six others just waiting for some extra cash and then are going to him for the mod!! This guys is very helpful and he knows his stuff. WELL WORTH THE MONEY!! - Tony

ohmy.gif. Anyways, he did a TSOP flash on mine and it works like a charm. What else does he do...actually, what can't he do? He's Super-Fred aka Robochicken. Still have no idea where the f*ck he got that name from.

For real though. He knows his shit.  wink.gif

Skewing into a different tangent...

Don't ever, EVER, Ever, ever choose Partition 6 takes the rest of the drive and "Ignore partition table". I reflashed my BIOS (M7) and chose those options...

1. It started to frag...Error 13  huh.gif

2. If it did boot, Evox was fucked...well, it forgot the settings like the evox.ini file got corrupted.  dry.gif

3. Before I fixed it, (reflashed using Slayer's), I FTP'd into the Xbox and looked at the contents in C: and everything was deleted. Kind of shit is that?!  mad.gif

Note:
I really started noticing this when I uploaded Ninja Gaiden too...

Hey Ferd...

Do me a favor and check out the post I made under "No boot" under the newbie topics. I fubar'd an Xbox I think...shit I'll just put it in here.

Okay this is the scenario...

My boy wanted me to go ahead and TSOP flash his 1.0 with an ST chipset on it. Anyways, I solder the points...boot it up and here's the sequence it goes through. It boots, turns off, back on, turns off and then alternately goes Orange to Red with no video. Tried to just boot off the DVD drive with a game and still no go. Don't know what heezy I did. So I took it apart again and removed all the solder points and still no go. Does the same thing.

Just wondering if you ever read a post on something like this or have come across this problem. If ANYONE has run across this problem, please PM me or add a reply to this topic. Thanks.

Hey Robotic Chicken,

I didn't realize that my 1.0 had an ST chip on it. Anyways, I've been TSOP'n 4 Xbox's every other day. Being busy is to say the least. Anyways, since you're thanking your customers, I think it's time to give credit where credit is due.

Fred will not hesitate to show you what's up. He basically knows the 'In's' and 'Out's' of the XBox. When I had problems with TSOP'n certain XBox's, he would always help me out. He would be the first and last person that I would turn to for assistance. I've known Fred for quite some time now and that's the type of person he is...always helpful. Again, thanks for the help Fred...I owe you a hug...okay that was gay. Okay more like a beer. Okay you can't drink alcohol...umm I'll give you a high five. How's that?

About that 1.0 you got there- did you try following that tut and try booting the first 256k of the TSOP? Let me know if you have probs and I'll hop the fence and we'll work on it

I haven't tried it. Kinda gave up on it last night since I had 3 other box's I had to flash. That particular box has been giving me problems. If push comes to shove, I might have to just but the Halo Edition XBox and give that dude my old one. We'll see what's up. But I will try that first to see what happens. Hopefully it will work.

History on that box:

-v1.0/ST chipset

So yah I spilled solder on the legs of one of the chips a while back. Desoldered and I was good to go. Desoldering braid is one of the bets things ever made. AUF007, flashed with M7ef and it booted it up properly. Evevn loaded Slayer's on the retail HDD. Time passes on and the guy FINALLY gave me the money for the HDD and being the nice guy that I am, I went ahead and bought a 120gb HDD for him yesterday. Installed it, loaded Slayer's, FTP'd and put my evox.ini file and +3935. So I tried to FTP from Xbox to XBox to load my back up games  wink.gif on his XBox. It had a hard time just creating the folders. Decided to reflash the BIOS. Loaded M7 and as SOON as I pressed 'Y' to flash, the bitch just turned off, wanted to restart and it did a 3 reboot cycle. Got the Red-Green Alternating. So that's my worse story ever on TSOP'n an XBox.

Tonight:

I'm going to try and do this: So You Screwed Up Your XBox and see what happens. Like I mentioned above, if this doesn't work, it looks like I'm running down to Fry's and picking up a Halo Edition XBox for myself.

Anyways, wish me luck. I have all this time at work that's why I'm posting this. Whoever's reading this might have a lot of time on their hands also.

Robochicken:
Whenever YOU get slammed, let me know. I'll do the same but I don't do as many boxes as you do.  biggrin.gif

Thanks for the props on TSOP'n by the way. Learned from the best.  wink.gif

Update:

The shit didn't work. Robochicken helped me out...basically did all of it and it looks like the TSOP is fubar'd.

Anyways, I picked up a LE Halo XBox today. Hopefully it will have a Sammy, if not, I'll just take it out of my other XBox. Planning on flashing it today. I know this doesn't belong on here but FUCK. I'm bored at work.

Hey Bro...

We still gotta get the Cathode tubes in there to light the bad boy up. I'm going to try and make it out to CompUSA today to see if they have it. Am I looking for the tube or just the cathode fan? I got confused. ou did mention that we were going to place it on top of the DVD drive. Just call me up or I'll check on this again.

You pretty much always find the cathodes already screwed into a fan. The CompUSA close to us stocks Antec and they had some greens last I checked. We want to secure it to your cd/hdd because we don't want any adhesive or tape showing from the top of your case since it's see through. It could just sit there fine without anything holding it in place since the lip will hold it down but it will be tricky to align unless we do. Also your case won't need to be deremeled since it's transparent.

Yah I'm gonna have to pick it up on the way home from work one day. So I'm assuming that we'll just attach about 2/3's of it to the DVD Case? Kinda confused but I think I understand what you're talking about.

Hey Fred...

By chance do you have anymore Green LED's and resistors? I wanna do my clear dongles. I believe i have 3 dongles.
Title: Xbox Modifications In San Diego
Post by: sdpnoy on May 05, 2004, 08:24:00 AM
I'll check it out. I have 2 or 3 smoked green dongles.

I had a spare CC lying around and i put it in. The reason why I took it out of my other XBox is because my box would error out. Either get Error 13 or 21 at boot. Just wondering where you put your inverter. I think that's what's causing it to error out. It's near the IDE cable so i think it's jumping over or something. Obviously the box doesn't like the CC in there.
Title: Xbox Modifications In San Diego
Post by: sdpnoy on May 05, 2004, 01:32:00 PM
Yah I figured that. I read the post on some other topic about it. So i'm gonna do that. I was like WTF is going on? It freeze during games and sh!t. Kinda sucked but yah. The CC itself is blue. It still comes out green. I also found double sided tape so now it's lit up. Just have to do the dongles.

Fred...

Solderless Matrix chip. Friend wants to take it out and have me TSOP flash it. Dilema is, don't have the orginal HDD. He gave me the password and all that other crap for the HDD, where he got that from? Not sure. How would I go on using that information in order for the upgraded HDD to work?
Title: Xbox Modifications In San Diego
Post by: sdpnoy on May 06, 2004, 09:36:00 AM
Okay I'll go back and lock the HDD. I don't think the drive was locked. I have to put the chip back in though. I think it was soldered to some point that I forgot but I found the tut for it.
Title: Xbox Modifications In San Diego
Post by: sdpnoy on May 06, 2004, 12:03:00 PM
See now I'm confused. I believe the upgraded HDD is unlocked. It would error out with NO specific error code. That's why I was assuming that I would need the original HDD.

Also,

Remeber that one XBox that had a bad TSOP? Do you think bypassing it with a modchip would bring it back to life?
Title: Xbox Modifications In San Diego
Post by: RoboChicken on May 06, 2004, 05:15:00 PM
I see what your saying now. Yeah, you'll need the original hard drive to TSOP flash it. Unless you can get his Matrix modchip working again.

For the bad TSOP I think you'll need to do a 29-wire mod to fix that. Not too sure- check the TSOP forums for tips.

Great guy to deal with, He is always around either by phone or e-mail for my "dumb" questions. I jacked up my Avalaunch dashboard and my XBOX would just freeze. He ran me through some tech support over then phone but i'm not the best tech guy. So he told me to bring it over and he will fix it up. (This was at 8:30pm) I stopped by and left with a fixed XBOX, update utilities, and two blue led dongles......in less then an hour. He only wanted to charge me for one of the dongles cause the other one I brought from home. But I always take up his time and he is always really cool about it and always helps me...so I made him take a $20 for all the past help. He almost ran after me trying to give me my money back. I'm not one to throw money around, but he is one of the coolest and most trustworth people I've ever dealt with!!

His Work = A+
His Comunication = A+
His Honesty = A+
His Support = A+

I have two more friends that i'm stearing his way!  - Tony

I made it to the room where they were holding the Halo 2 playable demo (No body seemed to realize which door they were in). There were about 8 Xboxs in this one small room. No one was in there yet except for a few Bunjie employees. All boxs were at a screen waiting for the multiplayer game to start. I asked if I could test it out but they wouldn't let me because it was press/invite only.Oh well, hopefully they'll open things up to the public on day 2 or day 3.

Yup...actually you can find it in the Slayer's install disc. TSOP D.6...(piece of shit BIOS)

I talked to Lordvader and he said that flashing the TSOP while you boot off the chip and disabling it won't work. I guess it looks for the lace, whatever that means, and so doing the 007 hack will try to find the chip. But you know what? I'm gonna try it anyways.

Actually this isn't a piece of shit BIOS. Apparently if you have the BIOS in your modchip, you can trick the XBox to think that it booted of the TSOP. Something I want to try Fred.

v1.4 but according to Lordvader, it won't work. You have to be able to boot off the TSOP in order to do this. I think I'm going to purchase the XRay chip. I think it's only 15 bucks. Pretty good tut's on here on how to do it. I just can't find the site where to get the chip from. I found it yesterday somehow.

Make sure you're not using the cross-over cable for anything now that a router is in the mix. Should just be regular cables this time. PM me a link of what the logo looks like and I'll experiment with it (I have an spare case i'm not doing anything with). If it turns out good we'll carve out yours.

Use in game reset (L+R+start+back) or turn off your xbox.

I have a different type of project I would be interested in hiring you for.  It would involve desoldering and resoldering 20-30 different points.  I think they are easy points to deal with, there are just a lot of them.  It's just desoldering and resoldering capacitors.  Let me know if you would be interested in trying something new.

ight. im new to the whole xbox modding so bare with me ight....

first of all my xbox just had this problem just recently for some reason it wont turn off i would always have to unplug it from the back. when i plug it back in it just comes on... (thats the problem) and i cant turn it off...

second i want to mod my xbox.... i heard of this TSOP flashing it and you dont need a modchip and it works and copy games straight to the harddrive of the xbox well i have a 120gb laying around and i want to put that on the xbox and i see your price is only $10 which is fine with me... so basically im asking you if i need a modchip or not so i can buy it... or does that whole TSOP flash thing do the trick...anyways..

i heard this program called dvd2xbox and you can just make a "back-up copy of the games and transfer the files to the hardrive" which i want to do...

so i live in the rancho cucamonga area 909...probably and hopefully about an hour away from San diego.

im willing to drive there i think.....unless the guy from orange county "smokeingit" replies to my emails but he seems like he has his hands full...

get back to me.....please

Sounds like you might have a short or bad PSU. Could be something simple where the powerbutton isn't functioning right. But you did mention that it will turn on once you plug it in. If you decide to have Fred do it, he'll probably check it out for you and determine what it could possibly be.

Just in case there IS something wrong with the hardware, check on Llamma. They have a lot of XBox parts.

Going on what Tommy said, a modchip just bypasses the TSOP. Doing a TSOP flash erases the onboard BIOS and flashes it with another one.

You have a 1.0 or 1.1

New 1.0-1.1 mobo from llamma.com is $66

Funny thing - I just got a broken xbox today with the same problem you are having. I read somewhere that you have to replace the R3G5 or R3G3 resistor (I'll look into it further for you). I tried replacing the 22uF25V capacitor in that general area for kicks but it didn't help. I also tried swapping the PSU and eject assembly out and it didn't help either. As far as replacing those resistors, they're really tiny and I don't think my 15w radio shack soldering iron is going to cut it.

Regarding the TSOP flash and hard drive upgrade- it's still doable since your box still powers on.

I was just reading that you can replace the PIC chip on an Xbox having these problems and it may fix the problem. I have a dead Xbox where I can get the chip from - I'm going to desolder the PIC chip and put it in the problematic box and see what happens.

Hey, Fred, hope all is well.  Ordered the capacitors for that project I mentioned during the week; they should arrive sometime this week.  How about we try to set up a time to meet sometime the weekend of the 27th?  I'm outta town this coming weekend...

Red, Blue, White, Orange. lsdiodes forgot to send me my greens so I'm still waiting on them. I'd stick with green but it's up to you - port lights are unobstructed by the casing so it should still be bright.

Lets get your port LEDs done- I have some spare controller ports I'll put them in and let you know when they're ready. These are 5000mcd 3mm leds from lsdiodes.com. I just did some red ports for leang - 6000mcd which was hella bright. No charge bro - just copy me some good porn or something (charmane star or sabrine maui stuff preferably)  biggrin.gif

Fred is simply the best Xbox Mod Master that I know. Period! No B.S. No overcharging (Actually more like undercharging), No Games, and no needing to deal with a guy with emotional issues, who could be suseptible to ego trips, or dark seediness. My experience with him kicked ass. I actually drove to his place all the way from L.A. (4 hours round trip) because I wanted to make sure in my own paranoia that it was done right. Turns out that all I did was waste gas. He was very fast, efficient, and gave me Tech support before and after the Mod and has been an awesome resource if you were to make this kind of investment. Dont deal with anyone else.

By the way, Fred, I'm back in town and have that cap kit in hand.  Have a little spare time to meet up this weekend?  Not a rush, while-you-wait job, either, just meet up and drop it off for completion when it is convenient.

I'm not sure where Chino is - PMing you my address. You don't need a modchip if you have an older Xbox. We can just TSOP flash it with a split BIOS and install a switch (still XBox Live! capable). Total cost to you is $40

Yes

Yes

- u supply hds i can buy?

Yup - any size up to 250GB. I get my drives OEM at fair prices and charge a little more for the drive and trouble of fetching them for you. You can probably find a better deal from a small computer shop or hit up CompUSA, BestBuy, or Fry's to see if they have any huge rebates.

You can go with 80mm fan mod or 12v fan mod

12v won't cost you a thing (just $10).

80mm: You can get a LED fan and light it up. Let me know what color you want. FAN+Install = $35

TSOP w/switch (you provide drive) = $40
TSOP w/switch + 120GB = $140
TSOP w/switch + 160GB = $160

200GB and above I'd probably have to get at retail price. Let me know if you go for 200 or 250GB and I'll shop around for a good price or you can provide your own. Length of the mod depends on alot of things - can take anywhere from 30min to overnight depending on what you want done hardware and software wise - give me a ring

CompUSA in Fletcher parkway has Red LED fans. Check there first - one guy drove all around San Diego and finally found reds there. Or I can just get it for you. If your having issues with it locking up at random spots after a certain period of time its probably the heat. If it locks up in the same place each time it's probably something with the game itself.

Samsung 120GB w/ 8mb cache are really good drives. Hit up Chips and Memory in Clairmont Mesa - best place to get OEM drives. Or just shop around for some good rebates on any new drive. I'll set you up with the latest stuff, everything fully configured and tested - won't take long at all.

I have the same problem when I'm in a hurry- the plastic melts. I would cut slowly at the edges and try not to push on it too hard. But depends on what tool you're using. When using the drill bit or something like it's hard to keep it from melting. Just don't get frustrated and go psycho on the case man I don't think I can repair it  laugh.gif

So here's the situation. My box was first giving me an error code 21 then ultimatley a 13. Now since this is apparently some sort of kernel issue would the data on the HDD (it's stock) be recoverable via a TSOP Flash? Or would i just need to throw a new lockable drive in there to get the system running again? I've been planning on getting it modded anyway, suppose this just gives me an excuse to do it sooner.

Uhm, my cousin and I drove all the way from Escondido to drop our xbox's off at Fred's shop last Friday night.  We're waiting on Xenium chips that Fred hasn't received yet, but fully trusted him to give him our Xbox's anyway.  He seemed like a nice enough guy.  Did research all over the county for guys who might have been closer in location.  Couldn't find anything on anyone I would deem as trustworthy so ended up driving all the way down to Fred's.

On the way home, I was like "dude.. we just gave our xbox's to some guy we barely know... I bet it'll end up on ebay!!"  ahahaha  j/k Fred.  We got faith in you bro.

Told him about a problem that my brother's xbox was having.  The original xbox dashboard keeps rebooting after HDD upgrade with Xenium Ice.  Fred was kind enough to tell me to bring it in when I picked up my Xbox.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Do you think updating the bios on the Xenium would help?

Peace out..

- All pending Xboxs will be done by no later than this coming Sunday

lilaznfruitz You'll get everything back down to the last screw and case feet intact. All Xboxs and hard drives are tracked w/ receipt and serial so no mixing up possible. Still a good idea to mark your parts no matter what. Same goes for installers since they can get conned as well.

HowlingChewie Thanks for the review man! Yeah.. I was thinking of installing more than just a modchip in some of these E3 chicks  tongue.gif

Try this:

- Lock the drive
- Detach the chip
- Boot stock and set your Time and Date
- Reconnect the chip

Also, who did the installation on this ICE and what's the date on the back of the Xbox?

Fred,

I think I'll have him bring it in when I come pick mine up.  Sounds like a lot of work.  My cousin modded it for him.  It was working ok (with LIVE and everything) before he upgraded the HDD.

I'm not sure what the date is but I'll have him bring it in.  Thanks.
Are are the 2 Xboxes we dropped off going?  Let me know... take care man

Hey.  Wanted to add that Fred does excellent work and that he's the only guy you should go to in San Diego for mods.  If he's busy, it's worth the wait.

BTW... I have a XBOX 1.6 with a Xenum chip mod.  Does anyone have problems playing ESPN games with this setup?  I can't get my ESPN NFL and ESPN NHL to work (CD OR HDD Loaded) to work.  Any suggestions?

To all my past customers who frequent this thread, people are getting banned from Xbox Live left and right today:

DO NOT CONNECT YOUR NETWORK CABLE TO YOUR XBOX UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE!!

I'll keep you posted here on what to do. I know most of you want to really play Halo2 on live tonight. Don't do it! Play it on your friends unmodded Xbox until the scene knows what's going on.

Well guess who got banned today?! I guess it happend in the paste few hours as i was playing DOA:U fine this past week including today. So just after i picked up my Halo 2 pre-order i come home, turn on my Xbox sans game disc (with switch turned off mind you) only to get the dreaded "Your system may have been modified" message. What a pain in the arse as now i have to get a new Xbox (no big deal really).

One question i do have though. Is my account banned in addition to my Xbox?

F*CK!  grr.gif

Nope, your account is still active - only your Xbox has been banned. Actually, you if you check the b/s/t thread you can get an unbanned eeprom for $8 from Zodiiak. I'm not sure what it involves but I think it may be part of the TSOP and can simply be reflashed. I'll get more information on this tommorow

Thanks for the reply Fred...but like my current relationships i'am gonna keep shit seperate from now on (stock Xbox for XBL and the modded one for uh, other things wink.gif ). I don't wanna mess with the EEPROM stuff if that means i have to get a new hard drive although i still have my stock one lying around.

1. Are you loading from Disc or Hard Drive?
2. Is this an original Disc or a backup?
3. Is this the only game having this problem?
4. Have you ever loaded the french version of Halo2?
5. Kill your Halo2 saves from the MS dash and try again
6. If that doesn't work, bring it over and we'll work on it
7. What BIOS are you using? (should be Evox M8 or M8+)

Don't use Xecuter 2 bios on this

Thanks for the reply.  You know... all those problems I was having.  I just deleted the contents in the e:\cache directory.  All the games that wouldn't work before, not work.  Go figure...

Suggest you do this for every Xbox you mod so that peepz like me don't go running to this thread for help! haha

It seems situations can vary. Keep updated with the following thread.

MS may be doing at least one or all of the following and are keeping their methods staggered and random to confuse people:

- LPC scanning
- Flagging gamertags
- Hdd profile (brand, contents, etc.)

People are reporting they are still getting banned even though you've swapped out the eeprom. (I have two customers right now that I am ordering new eeproms and the Xtender hard drive switcher to test this - I'll update all on how this goes)

It seems it's still up in the air and the safest way to get on live at the moment is to get a new virgin unmodded Xbox strictly for live. Here's an interesting read from X-S frontpage also

Pocketboi: I'm at the shop now. Hrs are 3:30-8pm M-F. I should be getting my Xecuters by next week but shop will be closed Nov. 25-30. My XBLive gamer tag is Bob Dobolina - oh and my Xbox and Halo2 is working fine on live w/ 120GB hard drive and turned off Xecuter 2.3 Lite. I subscribed to live after I upgraded my hard drive.

Soysauce: tdwil is the only guy I know here in La Mesa or even SD for that matter that does PS2s. Someone told me he's not doing PS2s again until beginning of next year. How about that one guy in Oceanside (Frank?) you guys used to go to? Does he still do PS2s? What version of PS2 do you have? Cause I will only do v4-v11. Let me know if you guys really can't find anyone and I'll squeeze you in. I carry Matrix Infinity only and don't do DMS3s.

What up Jer! I'm only stocked for installs right now but can sell you one or two when you come down. I have no programmers for sale - just purchase from mods4less.com and have it sent to your house. They've got great prices too on Xecuters, low cost and fast shipping too.

Let me know when you're down and I'll show you how to do a proper wire LPC rebuild. Stay away from the LPC rebuild PCBs that are coming out cause if you make a mistake it'll be a somewhat difficult to remove if you have to redo your LPC for any reason.

I tried clearing my e:\tdata file out. Cache I believe and that seems like it may have fixed it. Do you know what would cause the cache files to mess up like that? It is the same bios after all. With only some color mods and boot preferences being changed. Anyway I'll let you know if I have anymore problems. If you could tell me why you think this may be happening I would be glad to hear it.

Thanks

Shawn - about your question. Looks like you were trying to change the boot order so you reflashed? EvolutionX M8 Plus 1.6 is the correct bios so your good on that. I've never used Xflash only X2BM and EvoX. If you need the flash code for Evox let me know. Also I always flash an entire 1MB. If I need to customize the bios or make a multi boot bios I first make a 2 256k bios and customize them the way I like using (in your case) EvTool. Once I've created the bioses I put them into X2BM (Xecuter 2 BIOS Manager). Inserting your first 256k bios into X2BM will automatically replicated it into bank1 and bank2 making it 512k.

Once you load your 2nd bios into bank3 it will automatically replicate into bank 4 making the other 512k for a total of 1MB. After you save your new customized multi-boot bios you can just flash it with EvoX. Just make sure the dashboard you will use exclusively is on bank2 and leave the switch on bank2. I'm not sure if all 1.6s have to be like this or if it's the bios itself or even if using your bank1 bios will actually cause problems on a 1.6.

EDIT: another thing to be careful of - unless you specified otherwise, the original BIOS i flashed to your chip had partition 6 and 7 (G drive support) enabled. If you relfashed with Fonly (partition 6 takes all). You will experience problems since the partitioning is different. This can be changed in EvTool also.

Great service, great follow-up, knows Xbox ... HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I tried to modify my Xbox by myself ... after 5 frustrating hours, 3 lifted traces (pulled wires off the motherboard) and a broken Xbox, I found Fred ... what a waste of my time to even try to do this myself.

Fred knew right away what was going on, he fixed my Xbox and because I liked his service so much, I ended up selling my old Xbox, bought a new one and had him modify that one too ... he also had great insights into what software is available and where to find stuff.

For what you get, his service is a steal and way worth the money ... NOT worth breaking your Xbox.

Hey Fred-
Is your Dremel fixed yet?  I'd be interested in a jewel mod in the future if it is.

Hmmm not really sure but I'd have to save up some before getting the jewel mod done.  Just thought I'd ask you if you could even do before I asked others.

xBRYAN...

Not sure what you're trying to accomplish here but the way it's partioned is that majority of the data is going to be stored on F: and some on G:. Not sure why you would want the games on E: since most of the apps are made to see games on F: and G: by design unless Fred did some funky ass configuration which I doubt.

It's hard to tell unless I can see your Xbox. There are many things that come into play:

- What dashboard you're using
- If you've configured it right
- What backup tool your using
- If you've configured that right
- What bios you're using
- How the drive was formatted
- How you copied the hard drive
- What bios your cousin was using
- How he formatted his drive

It's possible you successfully copied his drive but his bios is Fonly and your bios is F and G. That would cause you to see an F: drive but not see any games on it. So if this is the case you need to just transfer the files manually or you need to flash an F only bios to your ICE chip. But then again I can't really say 100% unless you bring me the box.

Hey I hit you up on your Site, but just found this post here while looking for some modders here in Diego.  Can you pull a firmware chip off of one drive that was burnt  muhaha.gif  and put it on another to get the info and then flash that to another drive so I can use my 360?

oh and my Original 360 that I got on Launch day finally got the RROD.  3 rings.  The bottom right one doesn't light up.  Now the 360 would just randomly boot up when i turn it on here and there.  Just my luck, 2 360's out in one day... f man not my day to be getting back into the scene.......  muhaha.gif

Hey Fred

its Tommy (teh candyshop on AIM)

sdmods does good work, ive referred friends and family to him, and have TONS of friends that have done business with him as well. He also guarantees his work which is nice. He also takes some time out of his day to answer my newbie questions which is cool too.

Speaking of i have a few more, i posted on ur forums too...

What are the main, beneficial differences between ixtreme 1.51 and 1.6??

i know 1.6 is coming soon and im wondering if i should just wait???

Thanks again Fred

Have been doing business with Fred for the past 6 years or so.  Awesome guy

He has done original boxes for me, family, and friends and has repaired many of them.

Has done a couple of 360's for me and have worked perfectly going in to get the update today...

I live in the San Deigo area, and was looking for someone to flash my box locally, and I came across sdmods after some research. It was a bit of a drive for me, but it has been well worth it. I've had two Hitachi's flashed at sdmods in the last 3 months, and both experiences in the shop have been great, both taking less that 15 minutes each. Even though it took only 10-15 minutes, it was done with care to not damage the case or any internal parts of the console. And he makes sure that every console is tested before you walk out. With the release of 1.51, I was wondering how much it would cost to update my two Hitachi's up from 1.4, and I found out it is going to be free, which is unheard of. I have referred 3 of my friends to sdmods, and they have all had no problems whatsoever. Great service, done professionally the first time, I recommend to everyone who needs a console flashed in the San Diego area, and I will definitely be doing business again.

I highly recommend this modding service!

From start to finish, this guy makes you feel comfortable to ask any questions about anything.  He's a xbox sage!  This guy is fast and takes roughly 5 min. to do the service.   And accurate as well: since I haven't had any problems with my xbox. Thanks a lot for the incredible service, I hope I go back there soon to get the latest modifications!

I've gone to sdmods several times over the last few years for a few different system modifications and I have always been very satisfied with the work. I've taken my systems to other random modders before, and now I only bring my stuff to sdmods. My xbox 360 modification was done in a few minutes and I haven't had a single problem with it since. After seeing the work that they did on my friend's original xbox, I just bought one and will be taking it there today to have it modded.

Highly recommended for 360 mod or repair, I got my ben q flashed in like seriously less than 7 minutes, so if you want your 360 flashed quick with no problems then I suggest go to SD MODS.

Best out there in 360 modding and repair, I actually live in Riverside, so I had my brother pick it up and bring it down to SD Mods because he told me they know they are quick and know their stuff and I wanted it to get modded by someone who has a lot of rep and experience and SD Mods has all of that. Get your mod done here and no where else!

Hello all, I just wanted to say how awesome SDmods is and how wonderful Fred is to his customers. I have been going to him since the xbox 360 came out and he has done an excellent job of taking care of my needs. I first came to him looking to mod my 360 and was pleasantly surprised at how fast and efficient he is in getting this done.

Not only that, but he has saved my xbox's life by repairing my problems with the dreaded Red Ring of Death issues I had and I am very grateful for his kind service he has provided and continues to provide.

If anyone is looking for local repairs or mod for your system, SDMODS is the why to go. I had a 360 crap out on me with RROD, a few weeks back and it lasted about one week before it RROD again. Fred tried his best and was honest with me and told me my system couldnt be fixed. Anyhow Fred gave me the money back for the repair and said I was better off with buying a new 360 which dont have RROD issues anymore. I've told my buddies at work about your great service, I'm sure they'll be stopping by soon.

Get another FAT, they have HDD bays. Don't get a v12 slim as they have laser issues (you could get a laserfix PCB but I've seen those fail). v13 up to v16a slims are doable, past that I don't think those can be chipped for even memcard modded.

If you don't mind patching your ISOs before you burn them, and you don't care about PS1, just get a memcard mod from me for $20. Save yourself the installation and chip charge. Plus you can easily launch ELFs with the memcard mod like HDLoader and SMS media player, and tons of emulators, straight from a USB stick.

If you're set on a chip, get a Crystal Chip and FAT PS2. Don't get v1, v2, or v3 FATs. v4-v11 fats are perfect.

If it was this most recent Sunday then you already have v1.51. Sure come by and we'll update that other one. v1.6 is already out for 79 hitachis I'm suprised they haven't announced it yet - but not for the other drives. All that does is allow you to connect your 360 drive up to your PC to rip games (alternative to SHD162C PC drive). Plus you have to crack your 360 open to do it. Beyond that, same as v1.51 I believe.

I do want to play both PS1 and PS2 games on the PS2 so I think I'll go with getting a fat PS2 with the mod chip you recommended. You dont happen to have any already modded PS2's on you? I would rather just buy a fully modded PS2 to get it over with. How much would the whole job go for getting the mod chip installed? Thanks.

Sdmods is the real deal. I took three 360s to him back in april (all at one time) and I was in and out...20 minutes tops. Unbelievable service, fast turnaround, and a very personable guy. Don't believe me...I drove all the way from LA to get the work done, and I would do it again in a heartbeat! (Actually, I need to...got to get 1.6!) I might just make the trip this week! I have referred him to many friends, and they would all say the same thing. If you're in the SD area...go to Sdmods. If you don't mind a road trip...go to Sdmods! You won't be sorry.

Been going to Fred for my 360 mods for the past year and dang he is good!... I was just there this morning getting my 1.61 update from him. My buddies and I have had our boxes flashed from him ever since 1.5 has been around have have gone back to him since, to get our flash updates. He is really quick with fast turnaround times and is a very nice guy who is alway willing to give advice and info.  biggrin.gif

...I definitely (and do) recommend Fred (SDMODS) to anyone is San Diego for their console mods.  I will be going again tomorrow with two other buddies to get their 1.61 updates with Fred.... and once again when 1.7 comes out!  tongue.gif

Fred,

Just got my xbox flashed by you 3 weeks ago and unfortunately i was banned in the wave. Not sure why, i verify disks and everything.

Do you offer any banned console trade-ins?
Title: Xbox Modifications In San Diego

p1stik - thanks for the review!

0side - sorry I don't stock replacement consoles. But if you need another one flashed it will be free. As far as the cause of the bans I think it's mostly speculation but I haven't read the latest posts on the existing thread.

CrazyCowPie - stop by with the modchip and I'll install it for you. Swing by anytime during hours. See hours and location at sdmods.com

Thanks David!

Oh I've got drama similar to yours now:

A computer shop moved into our old location (206 Van Houten) called SDCS computer repair. He seemed like a nice enough guy except until he started telling customers that I went out of business and that they can take care of their Xbox needs. Be wary of doing business with someone who lies like this. Remember our new location is 415 West Douglas.

Forums got jacked up so posting my feedback from there on this thread.

Xbox 360 Mod: Thanks to the people at SDMODS for a great job installing the lastest version of iXtreme on my Xbox 360. Fast survice and very helpful.  biggrin.gif -john619

Wii Mod: Thank you sooo much SDMODS for my Wii modification. I know it was a pain in the ass to fix my Wii but thank you soo much for staying for an additional hour! I will definitely refer you guys to all my friends who wants to get their consoles modded. Thank you once again, and I'm sure I'll be in touch with you guys in the future. YOU GUYS ROCK! A+++ Customer Service and Satisfaction! P.S. DON'T PLAY MARIO KART WII (PAL VERSION) -s1kang

Xbox 360 satisfaction: Fred took care of my xbox quickly and it works perfectly, thanks Fred! -d-sea

360 firmware upgrades: Fred does them super fast and for a good price imo, at least for those of us without the inclination to figure out how to do it ourselves. -Lennie40

Great Service Great Price: I went there last time to had a softmod for my 360 it was really fast. Dont listen to them about the 15mins wait. I was there for less than 10 mins and it was done, lol. SDMODS has the best price and great service, thank you very much. -vincezero

Firmware Upgrade: I stopped by SDMods to have the firmware on my xbox updated to the latest version today. Service was great (like everyone always says.) There were quite a few people in line ahead of me (which shows how popular and trusted they are) but Fred was finishing the machines nice and quickly so I didn't mind waiting. In addition, he helpfully informed another (repair) customer that their Xbox was still under Microsoft warranty and gave them step-by-step directions on how to get it repaired through them for free when he could have just accepted the machine and their money. SDMods is the place to go in SD. -wic

yo, SDMODS ROCK!: SDMODS IS THE PLACE TO GO NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!... THANKS SDMODS.. -dc_norberte

Definition of Greatness= SDMODS: I came in a few months back to mod my 360. I also learned a lot in the process as they are very customer-friendly... They were both willing and knowledgable in discussing any technical questions that I had. I will definitely be coming back for all my video game console needs! -Avi

So helpful: Fred has done so much for me. First got my Wii modded here then when I tried to put a new chip in for myself I completely messed up my wii and he fixed it for me and put the new chip for no additional price. He has also modded my Xbox 360, One Friday I went down with a group of friends to get our psp modded and I had a bad model. So the next day on a closed night he came in to mod my psp for me. Very friendly and so helpful, I don't know what I would do without Fred in the area. Thanks for all the help. -kotech

Excellent install! (modchip + HD upgrade): Thanks for the install, I absolutely love my new xbox. He installed an Xecuter 2.6, upgraded the HD and installed Emulators for all the old game systems. He let me watch while he did all the work and responded to my email questions. If I ever need more work done I'll definitely be back. Thanks again! -ryan (generalrydo1)

sdmods: Cool dude, very helpful fast service even took the time to show me how to do everything definetly worth it 8) -reppd

Fred Thx: The Error 05 was simply my ICE chip accidently booting to the xbox bios. Starting the xbox with the eject button and changing it back worked. -topwop

SDMODS is the greatest: Fred totally took care of 2 of my xboxes. One he fixed the motherboard that had a bad chip install and the other he did a tsop flash. He is highly recommended I would take any of my repairs there. -aquajock98

Great job by Fred: Just wanted to leave some feedback for Fred. He did a great job repairing a not-so great job that I had done about five months ago. I walked in off the street and he had me up and running within an hour, very affordable too. This guy is a pro, don't risk having some amatuers screw up your xbox for you. Thanks again, C  (redreedrumr)

Awesome service by a computer expert...:

Hey All,

If you a tired of messing with your consoles; or trying to recoup your box from the damage you might have already done to it, Fred@sdmods will take care of you. I thought my PS2 was a gonner after my MOD-CHIP installation attempt - but Fred not only fixed it, he also installed a brand new chip at a very cheap price. My X-BOX now looks like a race car with all the bells and whistles. Not to mention that I will make-up for what I spent on the chips+installs in one week of renting games!

sdmods, though not mentioned on the site, also works on PS2 and PS2 slim consoles.

I would highly recommend sdmods.com to anyone who is looking for that extra functionality in their console.

Casey

fred is the best: thx fred - ELITESNIPER2112

Thx Fred, Loving the Mod: Installed Ice in my Xbox this friday. Its wonderful. Thanks man. -topwop

Sound off for Fred!!!:

I am posting this because this should be here and everyone should sound off and give the man props in one location.

Not only is Fred a Rock. Literally, I know no one as dedicated as this guy.

Not only does he work full time, keeps a shop running, is a man of his word, lives by his word, works by his word, but finds time to be a father and a husband.

Last word , DAMNNNNN!!!!  -mAl4m3D

thanks fred: Thanks Fred for modding my pstwo slim and fixing my old one. I thought that the older one was hopeless, but you worked your magic and fixed it. I will definately refer friends, associates or anyone who would like to get a ps2, xbox or gamecube mod and repair. I will not go through anyone else. Let me know on future plans for the ps3 haha. Take care man. -Dean

Outstanding service and a saved butt...: I flashed my X3 chip wrong, and found out about these guys. Initially my intention was to make the 2 1/2 hour drive to San Diego, but could not make time for it, so Fred agreed to take care of reflashing the chip for me via mail. I paid for the (very reasonable) cost of reflashing and shipping both ways, and even tried to throw in a few bucks extra for his time. My chip came back in perfect working order accompanied by the money I had "overpaid." I am now far happier, and my xbox is far cooler thanks to their efforts at sdmods.  Thanks guys! -bob

Thankx: I was stuck, then I went to SDmods. I was amazed with the great job Fred did! He flashed my chip and installed ExoX on my box, explaining everything every step of the way... Awsome job Fred, thanks so much!   biggrin.gif

Just another happy man: Hey. This guy is the best. He had my xbox completely hooked up and fixed everything. He is very fast and when he was done he gave me a complete tutorial. If you live in San Diego or just visiting come to SDmods. Keep it up Fred. Also he air cleaned my whole xbox for free. -biggieandmoe

Another Satisfied Customer:

When my Xbox stop working the first thing I thought was oh man, time to open my wallet and buy a new one , Crap. But first I called my local video game stores and ask if they knew any one that did repairs on xbox's . Every one I talked to said no. I was getting really bumed now. Then I remembered a friend telling me about SDMODS and what a great job this guy did moding his system. So I thought what the heck, I ll call ask if he does repairs. To my surprize Fred said yes he does . He asked me a few question about the problems I was having and assured me he could fix it in no time. So I decided to bring it to him the first chance I got.

Fred is very Polite and a fast worker, He is also very friendly and takes the time to chat with his customers. Visiting his shop was a pleasure. I look forward to coming back again and again. They say word of mouth is good advertisement for your buisness, you can bet I ll be telling everyone I know and meet to go to SDMODS.com for any game console needs.

Thanks again Fred
