Repairs for xbox is 40, if i cant fix it i wont change.
i do all 1.6 LPC rebuilds for 30 bucks
if you have 1.0 to 1.5 and a large drive to install... the total cost with modchip install or TSOP flash is 30 bucks.
I carry Aladdin mod chips... these chips are 20 bucks and do most of what those high end chips do. the on and off feature is cool on them.

Also, if someone tells you not to buy a premod with out a reciept, they are totally full of shit.... they can switch the parts of the inside of a newer box and put old shit in the system... so the fuckers can tell you its brand spanking new... even with a reciept and the new pretty box.

Smokingit has credentials. Saying he is good or professional just does not give the complete picture. After talking to him I found out he has a solid foundation and real world experience in electronics and computers. Ill leave it to him to give the details, but if you ask him where he got his experience you will be impressed.
Here is my story:
I had my Xbox modded by him on the last day of elections
(Nov 6?) Before going to smokingit, I made a mistake and took my Xbox to some one that had quite a bit of installing experience, and could not get the job done. That installer referred me to smoking it.
While waiting for my chip to arrive in the mail I found smokingit, and a couple of other installers. When my chip arrived I was in a hurry to have it installed and took it to the first experienced installer that responded to my email. Smokingit was up to his ears in Xboxes, for a good reason, consequently his emails were next day turnaround. I have a v1.0 Xbox, and the solder points are filled in. The installer that I took it to while having a lot of experience , was not prepared to handle these filled in solder points. He tried to open them up for about an hour then he called smokingit to see if he could finish the job. He sent me over to smokingit's place and that is how I came to finally meet the legend "smokingit".

My personal experience was a superb. Althoiugh with a slight complication in the testing phase (made my heart stopped for a moment), he easily troubleshooted the problem and fixed it (well it wasn't broken, just needed a little adjustment).
I came in with a pre-made list of "newbie" questions, he answered them all and even gave me a tutorial "for dummies" on working my xbox with the modchip.
Overall, I am one satsified guy, he was worth every cent and gas etc. (takes me an hr to get to his place).

Just want to add my 2 Cents. This guy is the real thing, he knows exactly what to do to get you the mod done right. I just had my 2 machines done over the weekend and my kids could not be any happier. 1 he provided the modchip, the other, we used a modchip that I bought last year. He made it all work.

i can speak for him from personal experience if thats ok with you smokey
.....he does the tsop flashes no problem.... you need to supply the modchip though if you want a disable switch. he's doing a x2 pro for me this week if i get it with a disable switch for live....
you cant beat his install prices.. theyre incredible. well worth ordering the chip yourself....
ive dealt with him alot now, and have nothing but satisfied customers
.....highly recommended in my book... depending on how many i bring he does them for me right there while i wait.... very fast and very reliable....

There, now that I've cleared that up, I'll tell you why:
About ten weeks ago I purchased an X2:Lite. I had never installed a chip before, so I looked to the forums for somebody who could perform the install for me. Now remember, I live in Hawaii, so finding a modder that was relatively close was difficult. After searching around for a while, I settled on KazuyaWaruasobi, in California. Now this was not a random decision; rather, my decision was based on a review of his forum postings, the competence and experience that he claims on his "Modchip Installers" post HERE, and numerous personal message exchanges that I had with him, in which he confirmed that he was a very competent installer, with a lot of experience and excellent skills.
I had told Kazuya that I wanted my X2:Lite installed using the Pin Header, and I also wanted three external switches installed so that I could take full advantage of all of the functions of the chip. I sent him this page as an example of what I wanted. He responded that the install would be "no problem," and that he could do the install even better than the example that I sent him. He also said that he would get the install done and shipped back to me very quickly.
I sent him my X-Box ($60 shipping, both ways), my X2:Lite ($50), and $60 as payment for the chip and switch installation. Thats a total of $170 that I shelled out for the task.
Over a month later he finally shipped my X-Box back to me. I had asked him, numerous times, if everything was going alright, and he gave me different reasons why it was taking so long (he lost his drill, he was extremely busy, etc.), but he never mentioned any problems with the installation. When I got my X-Box in the mail I was relieved...until I plugged it in and discovered that it didn't work! I immediately contacted KazuyaWaruasobi and told him that my Box wasn't working and that I was very upset. He responded, "oh really, that's funny because it was working when I sent it to you. Something must have happened in the shipping process."
At about the same time that this was all happening I started seeing posts like this one on the Forums, from people who had used Kazuya for installs and were similarly disappointed/screwed.
I asked Kazuya for a refund, explaining to him again how much it cost me for everything, and he offered to refund me $20, saying that the d0 probably came undone in the shipping and that he shouldn't have to pay for a mistake that wasn't his. After a few e-mails he hesitantly agreed to send me a $50 refund (out of the $170 that it cost me).
I contacted Smokeingit to see if he could repair my X-Box, as I learned through the forums that he had already fixed some of the other X-Box's that were damaged by Kazuya. I told him about the situation with Kazuya and my X-Box and he offered to fix it for me for FREE (he usually charges $20 for a install). So I packed up my X-Box again and shipped it to Smokingit, spending another $60 for shipping both ways. This is what he found:
Due to an improper installation by Kazuya, the X2:Lite was completely fried and unusable. Not only that, but Kazuya had not used the Pin Header that I sent him and had requested him to install. Instead, he tried to install it using the wire adapter...without even asking me (This was very upsetting because I specifically asked Kazuya to install the chip with the Pin Header adapter, and I paid him for that service).
I thought that I was totally screwed. After I had shelled out a total of $230 dollars to have my X-Box modded, all I ended up with was what I originally started with; My X-Box and no modchip. Thanks Kazuya!
Then Smokeingit contacted me with a solution. He offered to get a cheap mod, set it up and install it for me, and hook it up to an external switch so that I could still access X-Box Live. And his charge for this...Zero! Nothing! Absolutely free! Keep in mind that this was the work that I had paid Kazuya to do.
Smokeingit had my X-Box for 2 days, then mailed it back to me in full working order. Even though he had offered to fix my X-Box for free, I still paid him his normal $20 fee. He turned around and used that money to purchase a cheap mod and install it for me!
Bottom line: Kazuya cost me $160, and all I got for this, after he had my box for over a month, was a broken X-Box. Smokeingit cost me $20, for this I got a chip, set up and installed, and my X-Box sent back to me in 2 days! Not to mention, Smokingit threw in Timesplitters 2 as a bonus!
If you live in California (or anywhere else) and are looking for a competent modder, save yourself some money and some stress and go to Smokeingit. I don't have any experience with other modders in the area (besides Kazuya), but if you are in a similar situation like I was, wanting an install and not knowing who to trust with your goods, then I am telling you that I am fully confident with Smokingit's abilities. I am also confident in saying that KazuyaWaruasobi is not experienced enough to perform the tasks that he advertises. As a forum member and contributor I have enjoyed some of Kazuya's posts, but just because he is a frequent forum contributor does not mean that he is a competent modder. BEWARE!

Man.. if your not covinced this guy is a legit Xbox installer.. nothing will... Man i heard teh stories.. of 5 hour drives.. but i see now why... this foo did the job in 30 min... i'm on magnolia and edinger...
i have a 1.0 box with x3 on it... it was working fine but now i have no idea whats wrong with it.
when i plug it in, it turns on like 3 times... i can't turn it off from the front panel..
i thought the d0 point was loose so i put some more solder on it.
it kind of fixed it... if i hold the eject button it goes to the x3 flash screen
now i'm thinking that the front panel shorted out... but i'm not really sure..
how much do you think it would cost to fix?

Yeah, i know im an idiot everyone, but ive been working 2 days trying to get this going and its just not happening for me due to the LPC holes not being filled in and misaligning everything. I can manually hold the chip in place but whenever i screwed it in then it would slip. I eventually stripped the board so instead of spending $30 on soldering stuff then id rather just pay $20 to get a pro to do it while i wait.

smokeys done over 25 tsop flashes for me, and everyoned happy.....
i recommend tsop flashes to everyone... its the cheap econimcal way to do it... the only benefits i see to chips is the multi bios aspect of it, but who really needs multi bios's? i know smokey can install a disable switch that would allow you to boot to your factory bios if you wanted to go live even with a tsop flash.....
i see no true benefit of a modchip, other than them being handy and added functions that most people dont use. all you need is a bios that allows it to read unsigned code. as far as renting the game installing and deleting later. that'll work fine except fot the newer games... youll need a different default .xbe file which is no bigge if you know how to network your xbox to your pc... just patch the xbe file and re-install... some kind of protection... craxtion is really good software for something of that nature.. i think games didnt start doing that till feb. 03 or something... im not exactly sure...
i prefer everything on disc... smokey installed a samsung 120gb hard drive for me, and i keep all the games i play alot on it... if one of my pc's ever need it though i wont think twice about ripping it out cause i have them backed up on dvd's.
do the flaSH u wont regret it.
he charges $20 for the flash if im not mistaken

brought over a troubled console and mark fixed it. actually, swap hitachi drive over a benq drive. i'd recommend anyone wanting to service their 360 to mark. overall great experience and friendly.
