Messages only go to your sent folder if you check the box that says "Add a copy of this message to my sent items folder "
You can also click the box that says "Track message"
The message tracker will show if that person read it or not.
If you want to be sure that your PM's are working correctly, you may try checking those boxes and send me a PM as a test.

BTW the forum e-mailer is currently down, so that user may not have gotten an email to notify them of their PM's.
