iv got an Xbox which while i was playing a game it froze & when i turned it off & back on again an error code 12 appeared on the screen, the DVD drive wont open & the led is flashing green & red. it has been modded (soft modded as far as i can tell) & has XBMC & an 80GB hdd installed. i have three other Xboxes one of which doesnt switch on & the other two have hdd problems my question is can i just put the 80GB hdd in one of the other two Xboxes or can i just put one of the other three DVD drives in the Xbox that came with the 80GB hdd ? if so do i just do a straight swap & it will work or do i need to do something else to get them to work together ? also am i right in thinking that a error code 12 is a DVD drive fault ?

Yes you can use one of the other DVD Rom drives. They are interchangeable.

thanks & will it just work or do i need to do anything else to get it to work with my Xbox ?

You dont have to do anything special to it you just swap them out.

thanks for the advice people iv changed them over & my Xbox is working perfectly. the original drive was a Philips & the one that i have put in is a Samsung one. thanks again.
