Title: 3 Character Search
Post by: xprezz on March 22, 2004, 01:52:00 AM
Is it possible to allow search with only 3 characters. A bit annoying if you for instance want to search for PAL or IGR.

Fulltext Search forced us to use 4 as the minimum.

On a side note.. a search in this forum would have told you that.

Ok.. maybe not as funny as I though.. but still.. smile.gif

I thought it was pretty funny.   laugh.gif

I agree that it is frustrating about the three letter thing because, you know, there are so many things one would want to search about that have three letters.  However, such a search would yield so many results as to pretty much render the search useless to the user.  Also, you wouldn't be able to perform the search because the server would be in a constant state of being to busy to handle your request.

Normally you can find what you need without three letter searches.  If you are creative in your search terms I guarantee you'll find what you're looking for.  smile.gif

Please tell me how I find topics related to PAL video resolution. If I remove PAL from the equation I get waaayy to many answers.

Also IGR. Not many people actually write in game reset in their topics.. Oh and In is a no no anyways.. bah. sad.gif

I encourage anyone who make an informative post on XS.. to include KEY WORDS in the post.  As long as they don't spam it with the WRONG words. smile.gif

Like how some sites get google hits by posting somewhere hidden on the main page all the naughty words. smile.gif
