why not just go on IRC...everyone is on there already, and a java chat would just be pointless server traffic...

The Java applet is not needed. Too many people would enter it causing way too many questions. If someone wants to chat, then they are welcome to go to EFNET #xbox-scene - The Applet would leave the chan in chaos.
