Title: Solid State Hd In Xbv1.0
Post by: darw_n on February 02, 2020, 04:47:00 PM
the search is yeailding not many results, which I find surprising, maybe i am searching wrong...

but I want a nearly silent XB,   I am running xecuter 3CE and have eliminated any M$ capabilities, it is just a XBMC machine (thus the silence desired)...

solid states are getting cheap enough now, and seem pretty fast also...

anyone use one of these drives???

is it as simple as getting a converter?  or is there a power issue I dont know about??

XBv1.0
xecuter 3CE LPC soldier
no DVD drive
case completely opened up (no top, cut out side panels)

thanks!

im pretty sure as long as its a sata I and not a sata II interface it should work with an appropriate adapter (xbox is picky about sata to ide adapters).
sorry i cant tell you for sure. 80gb for $300?? not too cheap if you ask me. but hey if you dont mind the price im sure your read/write times would be blazing

yea, those are not cheap, I am going as small as possible because I keep no files at all within the system, the thing is basically just a HTPC basically, everything is streamed...

thanks for the info on the connections though!!

why would you not just use a compact flash card with the appropriate ide adapter?

on the other hand you could use a 2.5" laptop hard drive as most ive heard are typically cooler and quieter than standard 3.5" desktop drives
