Title: Dvd Drive Is Borked Need Some Tips

hello, i have an xbox v1.0 and the dvd drive is giving me issues after months of worthy gameplay fun xD

Slow-loading times
disc-read errors
freezing during games
error 12 code

so seems like i need to replace my dvd drive right? now the question is, should i buy one thompson or philips replacement from ebay? i have heard thompson sucks so if you have an advice of this or any other dvd drive i can buy for the xbox i would apreciate it.

Also, i dont have one of those tools to open my xbox, can i use a regular screwdriver? thanks!
