does anyone know concretely that you can add a USB wireless adapter to the $500 model, or will Sony require you to buy an overpriced PS3 only version? i'm not talking controllers here. i'm talking wifi. the psp connectivity is what interests me, and i don't want the $600 model.

I'm sure there will be some USB adapters like there are for the 360, but I don't know "concretely".

A: Not currently.

We'll also point the thing about the 20 Gig model not being upgradeable with Wireless LAN at launch. This will presumably change in the future, but for the time being, the only way to use the PSP as a remote media player will be to have the 60 Gig model.
I'm sure there will be some sort of add on.

You might be able to add wireless but that might also lock you out of connecting it to the psp. You might NEED the 600$ version for that feature. Just a heads up

I never thought of that.
I wonder how much a PS3 would cost if you bought the $500 dollar version and then everything else separate.

So you can't even fully upgrade to the premium around launch time if you are forced to buy a $500 version. WoW
-
I think some of this stems from the fact that the ps3 premium has built in wifi and not a addon wifi like x360. The wifi is more there for psp connectivity then for internet purpose.

i meant "and" as in "so what, sony claims lots of things....." (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
- much like phil harrison's contention today that by having a HD as standard, the Ps3 it will allow better quality games to be downloaded from their market place............ obviously a dig at MS, but one that doesn't make sense - its not about better quality: no 360 HD = no arcade games. god that man is a cunt. what is it with sony and hiring fuckwits?

wga54g its a linksys. got it from work. (bestbuy)
Damn, $90? Looks like the $500 model is a POS. Luckily im trading mine for a Premium today.
-
The WGA54G is a better bargain because it will work with any console, PC, or Laptop that has a RJ45 ethernet port.
It's just a wireless bridge nothing new about them. I've had mine for over 3 years and I use it with my Xbox, Xbox 360, PS2, Gamecube, and PC.
