Title: Why No Drive Fw Mod?

So I'm no expert, but it seems like now days drive fw mods are quick and fairly easy. Is there something about the BluRay drive that makes it harder to do?

Sadly, even if you are not connected to the internet sony can patch ps3 games whcih means they can change the security of the firmware whenever they want making it nearly impossible unless you could remove the encryption data which is somehow watermarked to the disc, if we can burn that watermark then we could do it but it is not practical sadly because we don't all have the money for $2,000 blu-ray burners and pressers for watermark security.
