Hacked2123 has sent an MPEG file to several users for testing. We gave this a try on both a v1.10 PS3 and a v1.31 PS3 console, and thus far it only appears to be confirmed working with v1.10.

Specific details will be posted in our PlayStation 3 Chat Forum soon by hacked2123 himself along with the relevant file for other DEVs to examine. The goal here is obviously to sort how to inject code using this method, which will (when accomplished) lead to PS3 homebrew, iSO Loaders, and everything else!

If you have a v1.31 ps3 and the file PS3UPDAT.PUP
(102 984 576 bytes, Nov 15th 2006, pup.exe allows to extract version.txt that says v1.10)
is there a procedure to downgrade to 1.10?

No, downgrading won't be as easy as you might think it is at first. There are a lot of check and security in the update files. If you want a taste of how hard it will be to downgrade go look at the PSP scene.

if it's like a psp, the ps3 will be an easy mod then.  Even the most complex downgrade for the psp only takes about 5 minutes, and it's just click on something, sit back let it run, click on something else, sit back and wait, done.

agreed that it is easy to downgrade the psp now but it took time for the people who developed the tools to get them to work!im not so sure that the ps3 will be cracked imminently but i hope im wrong!!
