Title: Blu-ray At 720p

I have a Dell LCD HDTV hooked up to my PS3. The TV supports resolution from 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p. I have the TV set to 720p cause the 1080p doesn't look any better and it over-scans a bit.

Well when I play a movie from the playstation store it runs it at 720p when i play a Blu-Ray disk it plays it at 1080i. If I disable 1080i it drops to 480i not 720p or 480p. 1080i looks fine but i want to know why doesn't it want to play a 720p?

I am using component cables and firmware 1.60. Any guidance will be appreciated.

Wow, that was a damn retarded thing for sony to do now wasn't it, so basically if you are watching some fast paced movie in hi-def then you have to deal with the stairstepping of 1080i if you don't have 1080p. And i've heard the ps3 is the best player out so far, so what does that make the rest of the players like?

from what i've heard it's an ok blu-ray but not great. i think it was said in one of the last 2 DLtv podcast

cool, so sony made the perfect blu-ray player but when are they coming out with   a model that plays games?
