Hey,
I want to upgrade the Hdd in my Ps3. I am running 3.55 Kmeaw on a CECHH01 FAT_model. Right now I only have a 40 GB internal. But I am looking at getting something around 500-640 GB. I realize it must be a slim laptop style Hdd. Cause a standard Hdd wont fit. But what else do I need? Does it need SATA1 or SATA2 I dont need any fancy connectors do I?

i know this thread is old but..
Any 2.5" sata hdd should work, you dont need any fancy cables, sata 1 seems to be more compatable for me
Hope this helped

The PS3 uses SATA I, however SATA devices are supposed to be backwards compatible so any class 2.5" SATA HDD or SSD should work fine. There will be no significant speed benefits seen from using SATA II or SATA III drives however, as they will be limited by the PS3's SATA I. There are no fancy connectors needed to my knowledge.
