They might have to.If they plan on loosing $50 and making $100 from add-on sales from each individual console sold. If they are not selling, even at a $50 loss, they might have to change it to a $75 loss. They will still project profits in the long run. It will just take a little longer than they planned.
All businesses know, you have to keep stock moving to make any money, even if it is at a loss. You cannot make money by taking up shelf space.

i had considered shelling out for one near realease, but now that i just lost a bunch of hours from my work that wont happen, unless of course i get a new job.

And on topic the ps3 has to do well for them to pricecut, and that shit ain't happening.
