Title: Which Is Better Us Or Japanese Ps3?

I recently won both a japanese and us version ps3 on ebay. Is one better than the other? I don't plan on using it to play us dvds or ps1,ps2 games. I understand the japan model will play japanese ps2 games. That I may have an interest in. I guess my question is will the japanese system play here online with other us systems. I would be pissed to find out after I open it up and hook it up that I couldnt play online with it.
