MGS4 Gameplay Revealed -  Video

At long last, the first gameplay from Kojima's battlefield surfaces from the 20th Anniversary celebration.

This game actually looks really good.   If the PS3 drops another $100 before the fall I might consider buying one.  I still can't justify the price for one good game.

i concur, excellent graphics and gameplay. this seems like the ps3 dev's are finally learning the hardware? i'd like to see a side by side with the 360 and the ps3 of this game if that is ever possible.

Truly stunning in every aspect!

I think they did a great job with the use of the Sixaxis
Great job with the gameplay
Graphics are just how I imagined (I'm sure itll be a better experience in front of a nice big HDTV rather then my computer lcd screen)

I highly doubt the 360 will be getting this otherwise im sure Microsoft would have announced it by now... but ya never know! Either way, I'm a lot more excited for this game now biggrin.gif

I would say the graphics are on par with certain 360 games that are out now they didn't really blow me away but they are good. The gameplay looks refreshing though and i will definetley be picking this up.

Very nice.  I'll have to play the older ones before this one is out.

My only complaint is the monochrome-ness of what we saw.  I hope that everything isn't sand colored in every single level. (yes, I know it is the middle-east, but I want to see at least some color variation)

And for the loading screens on the PS3 version tongue.gif

but seriously.

I wouldn't think there would be more than two discs, if that. The cut scenes are engine-ran, and though there was alot of action with the enemies and allies, it seemed to be scripted for the most part.

Oh wah wah wah.
I hope this does great. I love my PS3 happy.gif though I dislike the controllers, and the game selection. Great to see potential like this to look forward to.
Stop fan-boying.....It was so PS2, X-Box, & Gamecube age. Buy what you like and what you wanna play.

rants....
I'm so sick of the "flat" crumbly walls. TEXTURES, I WANT TEXTURES!
I think it's kind of stupid to try to add in features make it seem so real, but other features are just so fake...pick one or the other for Pete's sake. (I.E. - Somebody get a gun and shoot a 55 gallon metal drum and see if it pierces.... sleep.gif)

Anyways this is shaping up quite nicely... =)

The game looks brilliant, the first game i've been jealous of the PS3 for. God help Sony if this ever comes to the 360.

well absolute worst case scenario is 6 discs. I reckon 2 or 3.

Looks awesome, It's like the only decent use of SIXAXIS as well.

I loved it when he was like a statue, and he was controlling that little robot with a SIXAXIS controller.

I'm tempted to get a PS3 for XMAS (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) I wanna play this game never played the MGS series before.

I have a PS2 now perhaps I should get some of the old ones second hand.

Most PS3 games give you the option of installing the game onto the HDD. This would make the load time very fast.

Just wanted to say their is no way this game will be 2 discs, you all are forgetting these discs contain 25 GIGS of space or so.

That is why Sony went blueray to illiminate this issue tht the 360 has on just regular DVD's,  plus the 360 needs to upscale the graphics unlike the PS3.     Just that they are now figuring out how to program for the cell proccessor.

Hope this clears this up for everyone.

1 disc games (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) FINALLY!

I'll go for six or seven.
Kojima stated that he wants to put the game in a BD-DL (and PS3 does support BD-DL).
This means from 25 to 50 Gb, since XBox360 disks are 7,8 Gb you can do the math...
Add one disc because some stuff have to be replicated between multiple discs.

PS:
XBox360 Premium: $399
Wireless card: $50
A decent HDTV set: $499
Having to raise your ass to change discs: Priceless.

DL dvd is 8.5gb. do the math that's 5.88 dvd's into one DL DB, round it up to 6, hence, absolute worst case scenario, 6 dvd's.

And if you are too lazy to get up to change a disc once in ~20 hours, well that speaks for itself.

on a side note, i've made my feelings perfectly clear on how awesome that box set would be.

My prediction is....... It will take up No disc space at all on the 360.
Think about it dry.gif

No, that's not actually the worst case at all.  Each disk would have to have redundant data.... the engine itself, AI routines, some textures, sounds, etc, etc...  A lot of stuff has to be duplicated for a game on multiple discs.

As for changing discs, yeah, it's not a big deal for the occasional game, but given the choice, I think pretty much anyone would choose 1 disc over multiple... that's not even debatable.  Where is does get debatable is the added cost of the BR drive, but no one can deny the usefulness of the extra space.
