Hey guys/gals long time reader, first time poster.
I bought a broken xbox(bad dvd drive) off of ebay to softmod for a friend. Used my dvd drive to run Splinter cell and install the softmod, everything runs well until they try to play some of the games they owned that they had me copy to the hdd (bad dvd remember). How i did it was ripped it to mine and ftp'd over. The games work fine except for fight night 3 and a World series of poker game. FN doesn't even load and WSoP freezes in the menu.
Now why i posted in hardware is that when I was modding the xbox I opened the dvd drive up (was already opened up) the laser lens was PWNED, not sure weather or not it was melted or shattered but something was really off about it. Later in the file explorer of XBMC although the dvd tray was closed it was marked as open. didn't think anything of this since I knew the drive was bad.
I finnally got a spare dvd drve out of another bricked xbox to try in it (drive tested/works) and when I installed it it loads games fine if you boot them, but if you put movie/game in after the system has loaded it shows it as constantly "loading" and if there is no game it still shows "open" even when the drive is closed. I put the old drive back in incase the problem killed the old drive in the first place.
sorry for writing a book but this is just killing me and i think the problems may be linked
