Yes. 3.0 blocks out certain disks. Wiikey install disk being one of the known ones. You can boot into GCOS 1st and then load the Wiikey setup disk from there.

The fact you can boot GCOS means your chip is working.

Hi all,

Probably sound like a noob here but here goes.

I have 2 x Wii's with this same problem.

Could anyone tell me what GCOS is? I have the Wiikey Config disk but it will not let me load it, i get the "An error has occurred" error after i try starting the disk.

Any help would be appreciated.

Same problem here.
Wii v3.0U
Wiikey installed and soldering ok
Originals = OK
Backups = Error Reading Disk/An Error has occured messages

Do you have the GCOS file that worked for you?  what media did you use?  Could you provide the GCOS file?
