I wish i had remembered the link but it is dependable. the current wii modchips are not working on certain newer wiis that have different dvd drive set ups. most of these wiis were purchased after january. so don't waste your money until you know.

A lot of places (including the modchip companies themselves) have reported that the newer models with the newer DVD chip doesn't work. I can't imagine the modchip manufacturers reporting this if it was not confirmed. There are websites that will help you determine which version DVD chip is in your Wii by the serial number though.

It's the newer Panasonic D2B chip that doesn't work. You would ave to open up your console to find out for sure, though you can find sites that will help you determine the chip type without opening it up using the serial number. Wiinews and gbatemp should be able to help you out with the serial numbers.

WHOA...hang on a sec...Wii modchips? I've gotta check this out!
I'm guessing it's only for playing "backups"? I hope we see real homebrew on the wii sometime soon, that would be nice...
