iv had my wii since Northamican launch and iv had to change the batteries 2 times.  only about 40-5- hour of play. Im thing if there would be a way to put rechargable batteries in the WIimote then make a cable to "doke" the wiimote while it charges.  i was thinking of making a custome cable coming from a AA charger and putting a  plug on it like a mini headphone jack.  Then wire it up to the correct poles of the batteries. Then to protect the Wiimote put one of thos gates?(transitors). that open the circut when power is applied or close it. i forget what they are called. When yoru batteries die just plug in the charger to teh plug that you installed in the wii mote. or perhaps put in a better batter that last longer such as a litium ion. what do you guys think

if you look on th e back of the wii mote there are two little holds that look supsiciosly like a docking catch. I bet they will release rechargable batteries and a dock soon.

Weird I've had mine since launch and the batteries since have 3 bars on them for charge.  Maybe something wrong with your wii mote? do you have 2 and battery life same on each?

I had my wii since last sunday and batteries were dead thrusday in one wiimote I got some rechargeable ones today for it.  4 batteries cost $12 with a charger. 3-5 hours a day of play will kill the batteries every week. rechargeables are a must.

It depends alot on what you're playing, also. The vibration feature must drain it quite quickly. After about 30'ish hours of gameplay my stock batteries died out. There was, of course, a noticeable drop in the energy bar after getting into reel fishing in Zelda. I've have a pair of batteries I rotate between my personal 360 controller and Wii-mote, and they've lasted me a decent time. If anything, I think they drain slowler on the Wii compared to my 360, but I'll have to play a bit more to see that.

I've replaced mine at about 50 hours of gameplay. Not bad at all considering batteries go for what, a 40 pack for $10 now?
