hmmm...., slightly off topic, but I wonder if there will be a way to make a vga cable for the Wii

that would be pretty cool, there is component so I don't see any reason why it isn't possible, aren't homebrew VGA cables for the xbox using component output points on the mobo and a vid sync seporator to work?

I'll try to make an adaptor so that you can plug component imputs and have it wired along with a vid sync seporator to get a vga output

I'm going to review the VGA mods for the xbox

I actually placed an order on Nintendo.com for some component cables. I knew it was backordered, but I was hoping in the back of my mind for them to put it out rather quick. And sure enough during the check out process I got something along the lines of, "This product will not ship out until the week of December 18."

Well, I guess we got lucky. It was shipped out yesterday.

It did not ship yesterday. Nintendo created a UPS tracking number for it. It will probaley ship (leave Nintendo) tomorrow. I ordered a set on Thursday and Saturday it popped up as "shipped" on my order status page. Our tracking numbers should work by tomorrow night.

You and I should have our cables by the end of the week. Luckily I got a replacement Wii today for the one I sold to my grandfather. I will be playing Zelda in 480p this weekend that's for sure.

Then the Nintendo customer service rep lied to me (go figure). The person I talked to said they don't actually ship anything out on the weekend.

Congrats  beerchug.gif

How about those that lack component inputs in our TV's? Are there S-Video cables available, and how will those compare? I know it helped my xbox a little. :\

I was just poking around and Circuitcity.com has the Psyclone Component cables for sale... $60 so they're a bit steep but probably the best quality cables you can get for the console.

They even had them for pickup at my local store.

$60 is too much for me, I'll wait until I can buy a $30 set at a store down the street  smile.gif

I picked up the $60 as I couldn't wait anymore.  I must say the quality of those cables is excellent.  up there with phoenix gold, better cables, etc.  I doubt I would notice much of a difference with $30 cables though beyond the improvement from composite to component itself.
