Got up early in the AM on Sunday and headed for the Walmart down the street. reports online said they were getting 33 units. I got there #23 in line, people were saying that the store only got 25... fantastic.
Doors opened at 7AM some fat lady with 4 kids ages 6 and under managed to walk out with a Wii for each child... the rest of us stood in awe as she walked out with a wii in her arms as did each of her children. Someone else managed to snag 2...
Needless to day I didn't get one
I headed for Sam's Club about 25 miles away. there were 5 people standing in line waiting for the 10AM opening. I snagged the #6 spot, reports online claimed 15 units for this store, I called to confirm and they said they were short shipped with only 7 units. I wait until 10AM... OOPS they only have 5. But it looks like I might be in luck because #2 is an employee and employees aren't supposed to buy consoles opening day, and #5 doesn't have a membership (and when I waited for the Xbox 360 they made me buy my membership and head to the back of the line.)... They decided to let the employee buy the console because he'd waited
And they decided to let the people in front of me buy one without a membership
So I am Without a Wii despite the fact that I spent about 7 hours out in the cold waiting.
I've been trying to snipe eBay auctions at about $300 + shipping to no avail
Anyone else get screwed like me?

That sucks man. I bet if you would have complained you would have got 1. But, then you would have been "that guy" Keep your head up, you will get one.
Me, no Wii in my immediate future.
me != $$$ for Wii
-
That's bull plop. I thought it was supposed to be one console per household?
-
3 of my buddies are in the same boat as you. Hopefully you can get one soon.

Maybe Each kid Lives with each differnt dad
And man I am sorry you could not get a Wii. I had to make my Chick go camp out for a reserve so I could go to work. But I did manage to get mine. Best of luck finding yourself one. But then again you could always hold out for the black one.
-
Damn Twisted, thats rough man. Sucks to get your hope up and have some BS go down. Any idea when the next shipment is?
The lines at stores around here were full a good 12 hours before opening. At one point there was over a hundred people in the line I was in, and only 69 consoles.

for some reason, the words of the wii nazi (seinfeld reference)

NO WII FOR YOU!
heh.. that was inappropriate. anyways, i waited in line 4 hours for mine, and knew without waiting i wouldnt get one on launch.
if you are in SW michigan, stop by, but bring a controller and we will play some wii sports :/
youll get one, and youll love it... this system is awesome.
theres even a stats page for how much you spend in each channel and total time the system was on , logged daily on the calendar.
and about that fat lady... i would have complained to management, thats just BS.

i lost out on a wii to because a women (mom) had each of her kids buy one so that house hold got four wii's and im stuck with none

So I finally managed to score an eBay auction for a reasonable price... actually my Girlfriend did
$380 for the console, Zela, and an extra Wiimote shipped
the extra $40 is well worth the stress reduction of having to hunt down these the rare items... particularly because most places are speculating their next shipments to be on Black Friday
Here's hoping the guy ships it promptly, He actually had the gall to email us AFTER WE PAID HIM asking if it would be OK to offer the item up to the 2nd place bidder because he was offering more outside of eBay...
hmm.. no, how about you suck up the fact that we won the auction square and you're not going to make PS3 money on it...
...
-
props on the score... wii remotes are hard to find right now.. given they might not be by the time you get it, but still.. its one less thing you have to worry about
-
Defiently a score on that extra wii-remote, everyone and their mother is looking for an extra. And as far as reselling goes, I just sold a console for $400 cash locally. What a score that was.

I decided Sunday that since I had won a gift card for Future Shop, I might as well get a Wii.
So I camped outside Future Shop from 11PM until 9AM watching youtube videos on my laptop with some freinds outside futureshop (tough night haha).
Eventually the sun came up and I got to the checkout with my precious Wii, and the cashier scanned my gift card. Turns out that the corporation I won the gift card from messed up and put 300+ dollars on it by accident.
I ended up paying 33 dollars for the Wii, Zelda, and an extra WiiMote! This made waiting outside all worth it
-
I scored one on ebay as well for what worked out to be about a $50 markup after shipping. Bunlded with Zelda too which is going for $80+ right now on ebay. Considering I'm pretty lazy and impatient it's well worth $50 not having to stress over finding one. The guy I won the auction from was griping about how he waited in line from 4am to get it and was barely breaking even after paypal/ebay charges and whatnot. Too bad, so sad.

Made off with a Wii + Zelda n Red Steel ... took red steel back before i opened it.
LOL! From what I've heard about Red Steel, it's probably a good thing that you returned it. I heard it's gotten terrible reviews.

x2...heard nothing but crap. IGN gave it a 6.0. Quite a few games that deserve the 50 bones more than RS.

Yeah im really dissapointed about the reveiws for red steel aswell. I was really looking forward to getting it, but i think ill just buy twilight princess when Wii's are released here.

Smart move, Twilight Princess is one amazing game. I'd rate it a close runner up to Ocarina of Time.
EDIT: typos

Me and my wife camped out there a day and a half in advance. She went to work and i took her spot. Then she came back and we camped out together. It was soooo cold but we put up with it. We were 21st in line and when it was time, they gave out wristbands and we were 1 away from getting one. Yup only 20 wii's in stock!!! We were very mad but at least her sisters got us one and we payed her back for it on launch day. I am manager at blockbuster so ive tried pretty much all the games so far
