I could use 480i but it is just nagging at me that I don't have them.
I am currently onthe back order list at the Nintendo online store. I will be calling every store around me everyday, twice a day, untill I find them.
I just have to find them
I guess I will try to forget about it by playing some Gears of War and Zelda the rest of the night.
-
Haven't heard of anybody around here selling those cables either. Am I right in thinking that it's currently online-only or are there actually supposed to be some stores that sell em?
-
Every store in my town (about a dozen) told me the same thing. They were expecting to get them, but they never showed up. They have SKU#'s and they should have been shipped with the initial launch batch. No-one knows where the heck they are or when they're coming in. Could be later today, could be months.
I don't even want to play Zelda because I know I'll have to play it all over when I get the component cables. Games like Wii sports and Rayman look fine right now but any graphics that are shooting for realism look muddy and gritty in 480i. Booo.

The component cables are not going to be available for the Wii until mid to late december. thought I would let you guys know instead of calling about all day everyday until they are avalible.
I have heard that but I have not seen anything ffical on the subject yet.
I can't even find the S-Video cables
EDIT: If anybody finds a diagram for the pins on the AV connector port I will make a component cable how to. I have all of the equipment necessary to do this I just need to find the pin-outs.

do you have a multimeter? if you could do a component cable pin out we could probably build our own

Please put down the Wiimote and do a component pinout.

I dont know a lot about the different inputs and such on the TV and I am going to say ahead of time that the answer to the question I am about to ask if probably no but I'm gonna ask anyways. I have a conventional TV with regular RCA (red, yellow, white) jacks on it. Would the picture quality increase if I got a component cable for the wii? I think for the better picture the TV would have to have component jacks built in but I just wanted to verify if what i thought was correct or not. Thanks
The RCA jacks will not work with component cables.
If you did have component input jacks and your TV was not very small then yes it would look better.

Well I found this over at AVSforum.com

from this post:

Once I see some confermation that this is correct I will make my own. I would make them tonight but I only have one TV with componet inputs and I don't want to break my TV.

An update for those wondering about the componnent cables.

At the time of publish, Nintendo noted that "our initial allotment of the Wii Component Video Cables has been depleted. We expect to begin shipping again the week of November 28, 2006. The Wii Component Video Cable will also be available at select retail stores (Best Buy, GameStop, Circuit City) in early/mid December."

When I picked up my Wii from the local Best Buy the employees told me none of the brick & mortar stores are getting their component cables in to the actual stores til Dec. 5th. So if you can wait, like I'm going to, pick one up then.
-
I was going to make my own cable but I am not now.
I am in the middle of FFXII and I have GOW, COD3 and a few other games to play. So I am not going to start playing Zelda untill I can get componet cables.
I am actually thinking of selling my Wii at cost so that somebody else can have fun playing it over the Holidays since I will not be playing it.

Stores will not get them in for three weeks. I have a stack of games that I want to play that will last me until February. Instead of my Wii sitting by my TV collecting dust I figured I would sell it to somebody that might actually play it over the holidays. If I did not have a bunch of games to play I would make my own component cable and play Zelda.
I am not hurting for money so money is not an issue. I am just trying to be nice and let somebody play the system since I will not be for at least a month.

Where'd you hear that they wouldn't get them for weeks? When I picked up my Wii from Best Buy on Sun, multiple employees told me they'd be getting them in on the 5th of Dec. Manager said the same thing.

Id like to know how much of a difference it will make going from 480i to 480p. If its a big difference then i will pick them up but im already full on my HDTV with my xbox and xbox 360. I need a receiver with component hookups on it.

You can believe what you want. I for one don't believe anything that comes out of the mouth of a Best Buy employee unless another trusted source backs it up.
On the other hand the EBgames release dates have had the best overall accuracy, in my experience, when it comes to getting release dates correct.

You could do what I did and just hook up more than one system to your component ports using a 1 male --> 2 female y-splitters.

You could screw up your component ports if you have more than one system on at a time on the same port so be careful. That being said it works great for me.
-
Well i will be getting a new receiver soon, but until then i will most likely just disconnect my xbox one. Do you notice a big difference between 480i and 480p?
-
If you're wondering if you'll notice a big difference between 480i and 480p, just remind yourself of when you first saw DVD movies. The clarity and higher quality. That's pretty much what the difference is like.
