What I want to know is if it will be a software update or simply not available on launch consoles?

^ I second that..Ill be picking a Wii up launch day..and Im gonna have to get a new one to play DVDs..Im gonna be pissed.
Actually, Im not..since I have many other things that can play DVDs.. 2 360s, 3 xboxes, desktop, laptop, and oh yeah..a dvd player..go figure.
