There really is no need for the chip unless your a dev (or as mentioned above, are recovering a PSP), just install Dark_Alex's 2.71SE (custom firnware).

Its amazing, you get all the homebrew abilities of 1.5 and all the software of 2.71. Direct ISO loading from the memory stick without devhook, recovery menu, No-UMD  ISO loading and lots more.

I suggest installing it to anyone who has 1.5 or anyone without a TA-082 board.

So only advantage of  a chip is it really only recovers a bricked psp. Hmm I figured it might have more. damn
