Title: My Views On Keeping The Psp Hacked

        I may not be the most well known person in the PSP hacking/ modding business (probably because I haven’t done anything) but I have been reading and learning a lot about how the PSP works and all. I highly believe a modification chip is the only solution to keep up with Sony and their ruthless firmware upgrades. I personally have a 1.51 PSP, not because I upgraded, but because I bought it that way. Now sooner of later when we finally hack the 1.51, and maybe 1.52 Sony will yet again release another firmware upgrade crushing our PSP’s.

   Now everyone knows they don’t have to upgrade anymore at all because there is a loader out that skips the firmware checks allowing users with older firmware. But what will happen when Sony releases add-ons for the PSP? Those devices that I’ve heard of such as a Camera, TV tuner, Radio, and possibly a USB hard drive will defiantly require the new and latest firmware to use. So you will have two choices, 1 keep your old 1.50 (or possibly 1.00) firmware with homebrew and everything, or upgrade and have all these options. Or you could have both homebrew and these add-ons with a hardware upgrade, the mod-chip.

   I don’t see why groups like Team Xecuter, or others could create a modchip much like the modchips developed for xbox. Since there is no debug port (I think it was called that in the Xbox, basically all the LPC points) we could use one of the older methods like this, the Xtender mod chip. I don’t know where the points would go, but I highly believe this is the solution. Have the 1.50 or 1.00 firmware backed up on the chip. Have the recently upgraded firmware on the standard PSP EEPROM or bios chip. With a switch between the two, you can easily have all your homebrew apps, and use the new devices.

I will wager a guess, a mod chip for the PSP or most portable systems for that matter, is difficult physicaly. Since most home consoles have extra space in the case, the designers lay out the hardware much nicer and even leave empty space that a modchip can hide in.
In the taking apart the PSP artical you can see that it's a difficult task just to reach the mainboard, not to mencon how much smaller the contact points are.
Also keep in mind, it takes time for the brilliant developers of modchips and exploits to figure out the way do them. Someone may be able to make a ps2 modification but it will take time for the matter and method to be figured out.

Just because you ended up with a 1.51, doesn't mean a hack for that type will out the next day. Remember it took time before there was a way to run all the unsigned XBox code, as well as it did for almost every other console with a mesure of protection. (I say this since it's the second, "Where is the hack for my firware" type thread by buttface96, first one)

Well I'm thinking in the long run here. Once we crack the next firmware $ony will make a new one, and eventually have deals (Like to use the new add-ons, or a web broswer or IM clinet). But if we could get a mod chip figured out than it would be universal, and we wouldnt need to waste our time finding new exploits for newer firmware. I know it would be difficult to install with the limited amount of space and all, but it would be well worth it for newer firmwares to come.

I know 1.51 will soon be hacked, but what im trying to get at is future things. Once the 1.51 is cracked, how long will it last?

what you're "saying" is pretty much common sense.... no shit sony is gonna come out with new firm's and other ways to make us update besides umd games.

do you honestly think noone has ever thought of an idea of a modchip for the psp?  you're thinking of a permanent solution, ok well are you gonna do anything about it or just leave it up to other people to do?

remove the umd drive and put flash or micro hard drive in its place, that would be the ultimate mod as long as games can keep being cracked
