My Xbox date has set itself to year 8907 a few times now. My guess is that it's from unplugging it to move it upstairs/downstairs, but why does it get set to 8907? It seems like it's only possible to set the date in the 2000s.

At least 6904 years from now my ancestors will have the correct date.

edit- btw, isn't it supposed to be impossible to boot the ms dashboard with an unlocked harddrive, or is that only with the modchip turned off?

dunno, when ever i flash a bios with evox and i have the network cable connected, the date changes to 6:00pm dec 31st 1899, every single time. thinkin its a glitch with evox.

but if it is on, your drive doesnt need to be locked.
