Title: Harddrive Clicking
Post by: darkmaster01 on August 07, 2007, 05:28:00 PM
I think my hard drive reader or something is out of alignment cause it clicks when it is turned on and i get error code 07. It was softmodded, and had the original hard drive in it.  About a year ago I had a different Error (I think could have been the same error) but it was fixed by putting the hdd in the freezer for a couple minutes (didn't work this time). Is there anyway I could fix this without buying anything? Could I realign it manually? I am pretty sure I still have a password on the hard drive

I'm pretty sure you're SOL man. Even if there were a fix at best it would be very temporary and would give you access to the drive long enough to transfer what you wanted off to another drive.

DON'T OPEN THE DRIVE! Bad juju for those who do. Just replace it.

lol Good call, I guess i should rephrase. Don't open it up and expect it to work again. Sometimes you'll get lucky with a drive and have just enough time to ftp everything off of it, sometimes not. Drives yours, you can do whatever you want with it.

Nothing too bad, I don't think. There are just platters and read/write heads. Problem with opening the HDD is that the platters and read/write heads are really delicate, and any dust particles etc will cause the HDD to fail (but I guess that's a non-issue at this point lol).

Its a problem alot of people of had with the retail hard drives. If your not that bothered about extra space just buy a new xbox there only about £30 now.
