Anyone know how to flash back to GDR-8163B firmware from the GDR-8050L firmware. When I run the factory program to update the firmware it will not allow me to because thinks it is a GDR-8050L. If I had just the .bin file I might be able to but I can not find one.
I figure I will get back the X16 dvd reading if I go back to GDR-8163B firmware. Reading originals is not that important to me.

Anyone have a backup of there GDR-8163B version 0L23 firmware as a bin?

Still looking. Anyone have one?

I used a file called 8050L_FW_Flasher_FIXED.rar
I did not make a backup of the original.I wish I did.
8050L_FW_Flasher_FIXED did not have a backup procedure.
If you get your original backed up can you please email it to me. At this point I will try any version of original GDR-8163B
thanks

I was going to use the same program to flash my drive.
instructions to make the boot disk aren't in the usage txt document. what exactly did you do to make the boot disk?
I don't know how I'd be able to send you the original if this thing just flashes over the original FW.
I still gotta figure out how to make the boot disk first, though.
check this link your orig might be there. I guess that would explain why it doesn't have a backup procedure.
maybe its not needed if the orig FW is readily available.( I didn't download it , so I don't know for sure if its ok)

I already have those files. The problem is that they do a check to see if your DVD-ROM is a GDR-8163 before updatind and since it thinks it is a GDR-8050 it will not allow you to update the firmware.
What you need is the file 8050L_FW_Flasher_FIXED.rar It has the boot. Google for it. I can not find my copy of it.

I have that flasher.
what do I need to do to make the boot disk?

Just boot with a win 98, 2000 or XP boot disk. Google "bootdisk" and you will find a site that you can download one.

so, if I do that, and flash it with this - 8050L_FW_Flasher_FIXED won't I be in the same situation as you ?
without original FW?

Yes
I would suggest that you backup your original.
I think there are programs out there that will do that. That is what I should have done first before flashing.

I just got a msg from one of the guys here. he says you can't flash it back to 8163b once you change it to the 8050L.
