Title: Yet Another Idea For Converting A Classic Controller To Xbox
Post by: kevh182 on April 13, 2007, 01:20:00 PM
First of all I used the search button and read this post,, this post, this post, and this post.

I understand the best method (the only method) is classic controller (nes, snes, genesis) ->xbox controller -> xbox.

I came across an adapter for while looking for arcade parts to build a MAME cabinet here.  They sell an adapter for xbox and other consoles.  This adapter looks like it has a serial port (correct me if I'm wrong) out to two xbox controller ports.

Could you convert your classic controller to serial cable -> xgaming game console adapter -> xbox? or possibly classic controller to serial cable -> split the serial cable two ways (for two player because the adapter has two xbox controller ports) -> xgaming game console adapter -> xbox?

This same place has a PCB board to hook up your custom arcade controls to.  So there would be an extra step in this method by going classic controller -> PCB -> serial cable -> xbox adapter -> xbox.  This method would actually be kind of expensive because the PCB is $60 and the game adapter is $20.  PDF on the PCB here.

Do you think this could be a way of getting classic controllers to work on xbox?

Or,

Do you think we could start a petition or get donations started for xport or other xbox emulator creators to provide support for custom USB retropads from here via USB hack through xbox controller ports?
